Sumsion Robert Thorn Two Springville Students Receive Appointments to High ROTC Posts The appointments of four air force ROTC cadet officers to key posts at the Brigham Young University Uni-versity detatchment for the 1954-55 1954-55 school year were announced today to-day by Lt. Col. Jesse E. Stay, professor pro-fessor of air science. Selected for the post of division commander of the entire BYU detatchment de-tatchment was Cadet Col. Robert P. Thome of Springville. Assisting the new commander as deputy division di-vision commander will be Cadet Col. Marion Probert, Hawthorne, Calif. In addition to the appointments at the division ievel, Col. Stay announced an-nounced the names of the commanders com-manders for the detatchment's two wings. Cadet Col. Richard M. Ove- son, Pendleton, Ore., and Cadet Col. Richard G. Sumsion of Springville, Spring-ville, were selected as wing commanders. com-manders. Cadet Col. Thorn, the new division di-vision commander, is a graduate of Springville High and served as an LDS missionary in South Africa. Cadet Thorn is a business administration adminis-tration major and, expects to complete com-plete all his graduation requirements require-ments this fall. Cadet Col. Sumsion is a graduate grad-uate of Springville high chool majoring ma-joring in accounting at BYU. Robert is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Thorn and Richard is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen W. Sumsion. |
