Show Mr. and Mrs. Russell Jensen of Spanish Fork, Mrs. Marie Whiting Whit-ing and children of Mapleton went to Schofield to visit Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cox on Sunday. The group enjoyed en-joyed a picnic dinner and boating. Mrs. Laura Simpson and son, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Poulsen end daughter of Oakland, Calif., left Tuesday ,for their home av'ter spending the week with the girl's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eastham Clegg. Mrs. Grace Stubbs and children of Ogden are also visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clegg. Mrs. Frank Sanford and daughters daugh-ters Bat'bara and LaVern attended attend-ed the golden wedding celebration celebra-tion for Mrs. Sanford's parents. Mr. and Mrs. John C. Painter at Nephi Tuesday night. They were accompanied by an aunt, Mrs. Mae Dixon of Provo. MJrs. Miss Marjorie Clark and Miss Janis Clark left Monday to spend den days in Nevada and southern Utah. Mr. and Mt-3. J. X. Gardner and son Dougall X. were recent visitors visit-ors at Dolta spending the time vvith Mr. Gardner's father, Royal J. Gardner who is eighty-four years old. Mrs. Bessie Stevens of Alameda, Ala-meda, Col., has returned to her home following a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George vVeight and olher relatives and :riends here. Mrs. Rose Buyer of Los Angeles, An-geles, Calif., arrived in Springville 1 lie past week to spend a short lime with friends and relatives and also on business. In honor of Earl Sunision, retiring re-tiring bishop of the Second ward ,i social and program in the form of a testimonial was held Friday night. A large crowd of ward members and friends were in attendance. at-tendance. In appreciation of his services tn the ward, he was presented pre-sented with a lovely gift. Short talks, music and ' readings featured fea-tured the affair. Members of the S. T. Club were entertained Thursday night, at lire home of Mrs. Manilla Brown Luncheon was served at small tables at 8 o'clock, followed 'by four games of contract bridge. High score prize for the evening was won by Mrs. Ora Rowland. In attendance were twelve club members. Mrs. Bert Rowland spent a delight de-light fill day Wednesday at Ogden with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Binks. joyable vacation trip to the San Francisco, Calif., fair to Portland, the Coulee dam and Spokane. From the latter city, Mr. Welch's mother, Mrs. Gertrude H. Welch accompanied them on their return re-turn and will visit the family here indefinitely. Miss Carol Cherrington has been visiting at Lemington the guest of Miss Julia Ashby. She was acompanied home by her mother, Mrs. A. W. Cherrington and brother Bert and sister Jane. Mr. and Mrs. Berne Kindred of Tooele, Mr. and Mrs. Creed Kindred Kin-dred and son Jerry of Provo, were the Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Kindred. Complimentary to Miss Merlene Sumsion,, a bride of this week, Mrs. Betty Sumsion assisted by Mrs. Rulon Nelson of Spanish Fork and Miss Naomi Sumsion entertained at a miscellaneous shower at the home of the former form-er Friday night. An enjoyable feature of the entertainment was the 3-act play given .by Miss Sarah Sar-ah Marie Binks and music rendered ren-dered by the Misses Annie and Lula Fox. Lovely gifts were received re-ceived by the guest of honor and a dainty lunch was served by the hostesses to approximately 24 relatives rel-atives and friends. The vocational training in carpentry car-pentry school held at Spanish Fork under the direction of J. C. Nielson of Springville joined with I other classes of the county in an outing at Timpanogos Cave last Sunday. Attending from Springville were: Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Nielson and daughter, LaRhea and son iLarl, Helen Tipton, Kent Thorn, Mr. and Mrs. Don Watts, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Felix, Mr', and Mrs. W. E. Johnson. A chicken dinner and hike to the cave featured fea-tured the entertainment. Mrs. Samuel C. Park, Miss Eleanor Jane Sturgess, James L. Fran kin of Salt Lake City and Miss Louise' Kellcy daughter of Tom Kelley formerly of Springville Spring-ville now residing' in New York, were guests at the home of Mrs. J. X. Gardner and Mrs. G. S. Wood, one day last week. Miss Kelley was en route from California. Cali-fornia. Mrs. Clara Nielson and two sons of Spanish Fork visited on Thursday with her mrtther, Mrs. I. S. Brown and other relatives here. Mrs. Leo Weight entertained a group of boy friends at a birthday birth-day party for her son Glenn, who was six years old on Tuesday. Games and a tasty lunch were enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Grant were among the recent visitors at Fish lake. Mrs. Kapu Keaka, Lily Crowell and Fred Kruse,. artist, all native Hawaiians, attending school in Salt Lake City were visitors here and in Provo Sunday. They visited visit-ed the high school art exhibit and were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Robertson Sunday afternoon, prior to the two ladies presenting the program in the Fourth ward Sunday night meeting. In the forenoon, they were guestsof Mr. Blake Palfieyman at their home in Provo and also attended their ward Sunday school. Mr. and Mrs. D. B. In attendance were twenty-four little friends. The Boosters club of the high school held their annual new member party on Friday night in the form of a progressive and j slumber party. Early in the eve- ! ning the girls went to the show : it ml then progressed to the home of Merle Fletcher, Loween Crandall, Cran-dall, Mary Louise Wingate, Evelyn Eve-lyn Peterson and Beth Hall for lunch. McVay, dean of Wadleight high school of New York City, is the house guest of Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Welch and family this week. Dr. McVay is enroute to attend the San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Calif., American Classical League, a branch of the national Education association, at which meet she will officiate as pro- , gram chairman.
