Show Lehi Calls Election On Deer Creek Voting On Water Subscription Subscrip-tion Contract Set For September 20. Lehi became tne second Utah county city to call a vote on participation in the Deer Creek project when the metropolitan district dis-trict board of Lehi, met Tuesday Tues-day nighi and authorized an election elec-tion for Monday, Sept. 20. Provo metropolitan district was the first to call an election. Provo city qualified voters will cast their ballots Friday from 7 a. m. to 7 p. m. The Highland Conservation district dis-trict board meets tonight to consider con-sider an election, and American Fork meets Thursday night. Orem has set its meeting for September 10, according to A. Take 200 .Shares In the Lehi election, directors of the metropolitan district will ask the taxpayers to approve subscription sub-scription of 500 shares of stock in the Provo River Water Users' association, asso-ciation, which organization in turn buys the Deer Creek project from the United States government. Each share of stock represents an acre foot of water, according to Mr. Watkins. One hundred thousand thou-sand shares are being issued. Lehi's subscription will involve a total principal indebtedness of $38,000 in addition to a contingent contin-gent or possible liability of $13,300 which will be invoked only in the event other stockholders in the corporation fail to pay their assessments. Subscribers will have 40 years to repay the cost without interest. Payments are to be made in 40 equal annual 'installments, 2'j per cent of the principal being paid each year. Judges Named Judges for Lehi's election were named as follows Andrew B. Anderson. And-erson. Arnold C. Brems and Maud Adams. They will preside over and supervise the election. Polling place is the Lehi City Memorial hall, and polls will be open from 7 a. m. to 7 p. m. John N. Whimpey is president of the Lehi metropolitan district I and Joseph E. Smith is secretary. Herman C. Goates also is a member mem-ber of the board. The September 2 election will be the secpnd in Lehi during the past eight months. In February Lehi citizens voted to see whether or not the Metropolitan Metro-politan district be created, the result being for the affirmative by practically a 4 to 1 vote. |
