Show Railroads Urged To Develop More Passenger Traffic WASHINGTON, Jan. 21 (U.R) Joseph B. Eastman, federal coordinator co-ordinator of transportation, today to-day suggested to railroads the development of passenger traffic as the way out of their present financial morass. The roads, he said in a report to regional carrier groups, have "great opportunities" for profit if they cease regarding passenger service as an "unavoidable and unwanted stepchild." The opportunities lie. Eastman said, in "Improved service, modernized modern-ized equipment, coordination of facilities and services, elimination elimina-tion of wastful methods, and cooperation co-operation and agressive pricing and selling." |
