The Detroit team, formerly the Portsmouth Spartons, is managed by Cy Huston, who has been in close communication with Howard and Coach Dick Romney the past several weeks. Coach Romney believes Howard How-ard has an excellent chance to make good with the Detroit team. In answer to queries from the manager, Romney replied that "Because of his size, youth, experience, ex-perience, clean habits and" playing ability, Howard should make good if given a fair chance." Howard "became all-state center while he attended the local high school. Since going to Logan he has developed into one of the best tackles in the Rocky Mountain states. He will report in Detroit to take up his new work, September 1. |
