Show fiew Mm Wage Contract Signed SALT LAKE CITY, July 20 (li.P.) Acceptance of two-year sliding scale wage contract by Utah members mem-bers of the International Union !of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers Work-ers was anounced today by E. M. Royle, district secretary of the union. Nearly 6,000 workers vrill be affected af-fected by the now contract. Every major Utah firm except the Utah Copper company wil loperate under un-der the new wage provisions, which were negotiated in conjunction conjunc-tion with W. M. Knerr, state in-dustrail in-dustrail commission chairman. James W. Wade, spokesman for the operators, spoke highly ofthc new contract. "It will be a stabilizing influence in the mining min-ing industry of Utah." The contract will extend to June 30, 1940, replacing one re-cently re-cently expired. Minimums under the new contract con-tract are $4 for smelter workers, $4.25 for muckers, and $4.50 for miners. The former, scale was $3.50, $3.75 and $4.25. |
