Show Maple ton Plans Big Celebration For Pioneer Day A full day's program of splendid splen-did entertainment is planned by Mapleton in celebration of Pioneer Pio-neer Day. Monday, July 25. Practically Prac-tically every organization in the community is working to put over one of the biggest and best celebrations cele-brations in the history of the town. Proceeds will be used to urther construction on the new ward chapel which is now well under way. Bishop Frank Jensen is general chairman. Beginning with an early morning morn-ing serenade by the ball team girls, a continuous program of events is planned. At 10 a. m., a band concert will be given on the town hall grounds. Children's sports and a fish pond will open at 11 o'clock. There will also be a children's dance and bicycle racing at 2 o'clock. One of the biggest events of the day will be three ball games to begin at the ball park shortly after 2 p. m. Participating in the games will be a men's, girls' and miscellaneous team. The horse pulling contests are set for 4 p. m. Teams to be entered en-tered in this event, the winners of which are to receive fine cash awards, must be weighed at the Myron Childs' yard scales at 1 o'clock. The horse races will begin at 6 p. m., and immediately after a beautiful miniature parade will march down the Main street. Included In-cluded in the parade, besides numerous pioneer and comic entries, en-tries, are fifty lovely floats being entered by the primary organi--tation. ' -" - . At 8 p. m., an open-air pro-pram pro-pram will be given at the town nail, as the concluding event of the day. There will be a small admission charge for the ball games and horse pulling contests at the tall park. Concessions will be opened at 8 a. m. The people of Springville, Spanish Span-ish Fork and surrounding towns have been invited to join with Mapleton in the fine celebration. |
