Show MRS. N.J. CLYDE LAID TO REST Many friends and relatives from this community and out of town paid final tributes of respect to Mrs. Nora J. Clyde at funeral services in the Second ward chapel, chap-el, Monday afternoon. Mrs. Clyde, highly respected and , well known mother of this city, died Friday at mother of this city, died Friday at the L. D. S. hospital. She had been in ill health for some time. The services were under the direction di-rection of Earl Sumsion of the Second ward bishopric. A. G. Thorn offergd the invocation. The speakers, each of whom spoke highly of Mrs. Clyde and her accomplishments, were William Wainwright, William T. Tew, and Selvo J. Boyer. Music was given by Delmar Dickson and Chauncy H. Childs, who rtndered a string duet, accompanied by Mrs. Mary Bird; Miss Helen Palfreyman, El-vin El-vin Peterson and Miss Hannah Rowland each furnished a vocal solo; and Eva and Edna Starr gave a vocal duet. The closing prayer was by Dr. John R. Anderson and Grover Clyde dedicated the grave at the Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. Clyde was born in Springville, Spring-ville, November 15, 1866, a daugh-! daugh-! tor of Lorenzo and Mary A. Hall Johnson, eraly pioneer settlers of this community. She had lived here practically all her life. She was a charter member of the Service Serv-ice Star Legion, having three sons in the World war. She also was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and a member of the Springville Flower Garden club. She took an active part in church affairs of her ward, especially espec-ially in the Relief Society organization. organ-ization. She was married to Hy-rum Hy-rum S. Clyde on January 9, 1887, at Springville. Mr. Clyde died in February, 1920. Surviving are five sons and a daughter, as follows: W. W. and Edward Clyde, Springville; Professor Pro-fessor George D. Clyde of the U. S. A. C, Logan; Grover Clyde, Chicago, 111.; Harry S. Clyde, Salt Lake Citv; Mrs. Clara Christen-sen, Christen-sen, San Mateo, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; grand-children; one great grandchild; a brother, and a sister, Mrs. Rheuamia Rheu-amia Weight, Springville and Jessie Jes-sie Johnson, Ogden; two half brothers, John H. and J. W. Whiting, Whit-ing, Springville. ' ! |
