CANYON CRASH Two 16-year-old girls were saved from drowning in t'he waters wa-ters of Provo river Tuesday morning morn-ing by Alfred Lublin, 47, Roosevelt, Roose-velt, driver of a loaded truck ; which plunged off the embankment embank-ment just east of Wildwood in Provo canyon and buried itself nose first in the river. Reta Lublin, 16. daughter of Mr. Lublin, and Gwendolyn Lublin, Lub-lin, 16, Salt Lake City, his niece, were in the truck when a spring broke and the automobile veered off into the river and about five feet of water. The swift running water came nearly to the top of the cab which carried the Kiree passengers. Mr. Lublin, who is the son of Sam Lublin, Provo city street department de-partment employe, climbed out of the cab, then fished Gwendolyn out by grasping her hair. Reta had started to climb out of one door and her father aided her to shore. The girls were taken to Wick's place by J. J. Madsen and later left for Roosevelt, only slightly injured, in another car. ' Mr. Lublin's truck was loaded with four refrigerators, according to Deputy Sheriff's Walter Dur-rant Dur-rant and Reuben Christianson, who investigated. |
