Show Society News Mrs. A. O. Packard has just returned re-turned from a trip to Nam pa, Ida., whore she visited her daughter Mrs. Alton Harker and family. She also spent some time with her sister, Mrs. Abbie Jensen at Bear River City. A number of friends entertained entertain-ed at a canyon party Saturday night. Games and a weiner roast were enjoyable features. The party ended Saturday Satur-day noon after a delicious breakfast break-fast had been served. Jones of I Tooele visited last week with Mrs. Jones' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bird Huntington. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Anderson of Monticclla, were guests of Mrs. J. X. Gardner and Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Wood at their horae Monday. Miss Fern Ostler and Miss Golda Siler have just returned , from an enjoyable trip to Cali-; Cali-; fornia. They were guests of Mr. , and Mrs. Clifford Ostler during : their stay and also visited inter-i inter-i esting places in and near Los Angeles and the Catalina Islands. ' G. W. Friel accompanied by his son Lamar, left recently on a vacation va-cation trip to California. Perham. In honor of Dr. V. M. Sevy and Dr. B. V. Robinson of the 'state hospital staff, who are leaving the hospital soon, Mrs. Mary M. Oakes entertained a, group of hospital slaff members and their partners at a suppefr at Balsam park in Hobble Creek canyon, Tuesday night. Miss : Maria Johnson, superintendent of the L. I). S. nurse's hospital, Salt Lake City, left recently for Los ' Angelns, Calif., wliere they will I attend a nurse's convention. Miss ! Johnson is scheduled to take I charge of one of (he sessions of the convention. Following the I meetings, both plan to remain a j fow weeks and take courses in ' their respective lines of work. Miss Zina Johnson is an instructor ! in the Spanish Fork high school. 1 Mm, Mary Huish a nd children ot Oakland, Calif., arrived here recently .to spend several weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Bird and other relatives and friends. Mrs. J. C. Nielson of this city spent se vei"i I flays of I he past week wilh Mr. Nielson at Rock Springs, Wyo. Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Kennedy and family left Friday to make (heir home in Salinn, where Mr. Ken-, Ken-, nedy recently purchased a drug utore business. Among the very enjoyable par-t par-t ies of the past week was one riven by h number of the Home Culture club ladies for other mem-horn mem-horn of the club. The party was held at the home of Mrs. Ronald Thorpe. The entertaining rooms und the small tables from which a daintv lunch was served early in the evening were beautifully decorated dec-orated with sweet peas and other flowers of the season. Members of the Legion auxiliary auxil-iary entertained Saturday night for their partners and the Legion and their partners at one of the most entertaining parties given this season. The party was held at Memorial hall. Early in the evening eve-ning a tasty luncheon was served at small tables which were decorated dec-orated with the season's flowers. Immediately after the luncheon the members and guests were entertained en-tertained with a floor show in which Misses Dama Grant and Venice Whiting, Mrs. Helen Tow ers, Mrs. Lucille Bird, Miss Delia 73axter, Frank Carnesecca -and Mr. Allred of Springville and Mapleton and some very fine talent tal-ent from Provo, took part. The party concluded with cards and prizes for the evening's games were awarded to Mrs. Olive Miller for 500 and to Mrs. Inez Chader for auction bridge. Approximately 75 auxiliary members, legionnaires and partners attended. Mr. and Mrs. John Kroiter of Delta were guests of Mrs. J. X. Gardner during the past week. The couple were on their way to Monfireal, Quebec, from frrhere Mr. and Mrs. Manfred Hutchinson Hutchin-son of this city returned the past week from a week's vacation and business trin to the eastern states. ' They spent some time visiting interesting in-teresting places near the Great Lakes and in Canada. They also spent a day in Chicago, III., and other larger cities in the midwest. mid-west. They returned with a new Plymouth car. Members of the S. T. club were entertained Thursday night at the home of Mrs. W. H. Brown. Cards featured the entertainment, followed fol-lowed by lunch. Prize for high score during the evening was awarded to Mrs. Lewis Clegg. Among the enjoyable parties of the past week was a miscellaneous miscellan-eous shower given by Mrs. Lucille Johnson and Mrs. Odess.-. Childs. Wednesday night at the home of the latter, in honor of Miss Lucy Childs, a bride of the month. An attractive color scheme in white and red was carried out in room and table decorations. Progressive 500 was the diversion of the evening, eve-ning, with high score prize for : the games won by Mrs. W. A. Mc-I Mc-I Kenzie. and the consolation by Miss Olive Childs. About thirty relatives and friends were in at-f at-f tendance, and to whom a delicious lunch was served at the close of 1 the party. The guest ol honor re- ceived many beautiful g'.fts. |
