Progress made under the 1036 soil conservation program includes the planting of new alfalfa and sweet, clover, the establishing of a base for securing a crop acreage, nlanling of a coven crop orchard, the planting and plowing under of .reen manure crops; the carrying1 m of approved fallow practices, uid a perennial cultivated weed pradication. From their 103G work the farmers farm-ers make the following recommendations recommen-dations for soil conservation: that one-quarter to one-third of the farm be placed in alfalfa or clover; that this ratio be maintained; that ! four-year rotation take place; that barnyard manure be used, with at least 10 tons pel- acre with the same rate of pay as new alfalfa. That commercial fertilizer be used; that practical and simple methods of soil analysis be carried on; that deep cultivation of row crops, including potatoes, corn, onions, etc., be adopted; that summer sum-mer fallowing be practiced. A maximum allowance of $500 was agreed upon as the total conservation con-servation amount to be allowed for each fa rm or ranch.
