Show LARUE TAKES BOUT ON FOUL There were two knockouts, one technical knockout and a pair of wild wrestling matches to round out a gory session at Park Ro-She Ro-She Monday night. Arcade Pierce of Springville registered one kayo when he put Bill Hunter of Provo to the canvas can-vas for the count of 10 in the second round of a scheduled four-round four-round go; Lou Petro of Provo knocked out Art Smith, Springville, Spring-ville, in one minute of the first round with a jolting left hook, and Kid Spencer, Springville, won over Eddie Colton, American Fork by a technical knockout in the second round. Blood spouted from Colton's face after Spencer swung a hard right and Referee "Baldy Whiskers" stopped the bout. Both the feature wrestling matches produced fireworks. Cyclone Cy-clone Franco lost a decision to Joe LaRue when the West Coast Italian persisted in driving his knee to LaRue's middle and putting put-ting on some plain and fancy slugging. slug-ging. He was disqualified. Previously Franco won the first fall after a series of punches, followed fol-lowed by a body slam, and LaRue took the second fall with a toehold. toe-hold. The two gladiators battled all over the ring, outside it and under it, each getting tossed out on his cauliflower ear on various and sundry occasions. Once in a while they applied a wrestling hold but most of the evening -was spent in gouging, punching and body-slamming, body-slamming, and Franco spiced things up taking a couple of bites out of LaRue's sitzplatz. Henry Jones, Provo, and Floyd Hansen, Salt Lake City, went to a draw in another fast and furious melee. There was more wrestling demonstrated in this one but it Was plenty wild, nevertheless, and Hansen broke off one of the ring-posts ring-posts trying to toss Jones overboard. over-board. Jones seemed to get a good deal of enjoyment out of twisting Hansen's ears, which already resemble re-semble a scrambled egg on a frosty morning. Young Petro, the long-armed lightweight, continues to show 'great .improvement, showing speed and punching power and can doubtless get into the big-time big-time if he keeps going. He found little difficulty in reaching Smith with a sleeping powder. |
