Show Mapleton News The Mapleton ward is sponsoring spon-soring a banquet and program Saturday night, February 19. at the Mapleton Amusement hall. Admission will be 50 cents per plate and the proceeds will go toward the building of the new church. Everyone is cordially invited in-vited to attend. A very enjoyable Valentine party was held at the home of Miss Jean Lindsay Saturday evening. eve-ning. The room was decorated in red nnd white and the luncheon' portrayed the Valentine theme aa much as possible. About eighteen school friends were present. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whiting spent the day in Salt Lake with Mr. antl Mrs. Clifford E. Warner. A skiing' paj-ty was enjoyed at Billy's mountain bv Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson, Springville; Harold Juhnson, Thistle; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Johnson and Fred Jensen. Sunday afternoon. After skiing they returned to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson for a chili supper. One of the social events of the season was a lovely party eiven at the home of Mrs. Fern Whitney in honor of Mrs. Pearl Holley. The season colors were very cleverly carried out. A tray luncheon was served to Mrs. Senate Sen-ate Mendenhall, Mrs. Sadie Whiting-, Mrs. Harriet Nielson. Mrs. Arlena Holley. Mrs. Martha Whiting, Whit-ing, Mrs, Lora Bird. Mrs. Inez Harmer. Mrs. Iva Waters, Mrs. Henrietta Harmer, Mrs. Verda Craigg of Castle Gate; Mrs. Nellie Wiscombe, Mrs. Hester Hurst, Mrs. Nena Harmer. Mrs. Myrtle Bird, Mrs. Liela Whiting, Mrs. Rna Carrick, Mrs. Ella Bird, the guest of honor and the hostess. Mrs. Anna Erickson, Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Erickson were guests Sunday at the home of Bishop and Mrs. Frank Jensen. . The Primary children were en- : tertained Monday afternoon in : the form of a dance. A treat was given to each child. A birthday party was held Sunday Sun-day afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kieth Hatfield for their sons, R. G., and Darrel. Games and refreshments were enjoyed by sixteen little friends. Miss Dorothy Davenish of Salt j Lake City, spent the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Binks. A party was given in her honor Saturday night by a few friends at the home of Miss Naomi Harmer. Burt Bailey and family of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Burgie and family of Salt Lake City, and Miss Blanche U'hiting of Salt Lake CiLy, were guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Plumlee, and Mrs. Ernest Burgie. The Boy Scouts entertained their parents at a banquet held in the school house. Glen Holley was the toa.stma.ster. Stunts were given by the Scouts and Explorers Explor-ers and a talk on Scouting was given by Mr. Walker, after which a number of awards were given to the various scouts, among them being two Star badges. There were' 120 present, the scouts, their parents and the troop committee. Miss LeNore Hopla entertained a few friends at her home Monday, Mon-day, evening in the form of a cleverly arranged Valentine par-tv. par-tv. Games and social chat were the diversion of the evening. Luncheon at a dining table was served to M;ss Edda Johnson, Miss Ruth Jensen. Miss Ora Nielson, Niel-son, Miss Hannah Bee Mendenhall, Menden-hall, Miss Evelyn Mackley, Miss Nancy Sorenson, Miss Thelma Perry and the hostess. A party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Johnson for their son, Alan. Sunday afternoon, af-ternoon, the occasion being his birthday. The party was carried out in Valentine style. Games were played and luncheon was served to ten little friends. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Canto of Kenilworth were week end visitors visit-ors with Mr. Canto's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Canto. A lovelv Valentine supper was held at the. home of Miss June Whiting Monday night. Supper was served at a dining table. The centerpiece was a beautiful bouquet of red and white roses with placecards and motifs to match. Guests were Miss Fern Jensen, Frank Whitney, and Donald Don-ald Blanchard. The evening was snent playing cards and Monopoly. Monop-oly. The Mapleton camp of the D. Ui. P., met at the home of Mrs. Francis Snow Thursday af-1 ternoon. Mrs. Sadie Whiting was , in charge of the meeting. The ! lesson was given by Mrs. Emily Jordan; Mrs. Ruby Jensen g-ave , a short history of her father, Edwin M. Snow, and Wei burn Johnson entertained with a solo. Luncheon was served to twenty members and guests. Miss Gwen Mendenhall was hostess at a Valentine party Monday night. Games and social chat were the main features of the evening. Luncheon was served ser-ved at a dining table on which , were cleverly arranged Valentine placecards and favors.
