Show Ti Denver. Colo., was guest of honor I at a dinner on Wednesday by Mr. and Mrs. Max Kless at their home. Mr. and Mrs. Lambert L. Baker Bak-er of this city announce the engagement of their daughter, Yvonne, to LaRell Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Johnson also of Spring-ville, the marriage to take place Wednesday, Aug. 18. Both are graduates of the Springville high school and former for-mer students of the Brigham Young university. Mr. Johnson also attended the U. S. A. C. Several social functions are planned plan-ned in their honor the coming week. Mrs. Jane Chase of Ogden, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Max Kless one day last week. She also visited other relatives and friends in Spring-ville during the week. Complimentary to Mrs. Captola Cherrington Murdock and children chil-dren who are visiting here from New Jersey, Mrs. Bell Childs entertained at dinner 'at her home Sunday. Beautiful summer flowers flow-ers decorated the dining table and rooms. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Cherrington and family, Mrs. Mairdock and Mrs. Child's family. Employees of the W. R. Edding-ton Edding-ton Cunning company and their wives and partners enjoyed an outing at Balaam park in Hobble Creek canyon Wednesday evening. Bird of this city were guests of Dr. and Mrs. Clarence Snow at an entertainment enter-tainment given Saturday evening at the Star Lite Gardens at Hotel Utah, Salt Lake City, the occasion occa-sion being Mr. Bird's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. George Russell of Berkeley, Calif., are visiting the former's mother, Mrs. Eliza Russell and other relatives and friends in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Beardall and daughter Bonnie of Reno, Nev., are spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. George L. Beardall and daughter Anna, and other relatives and friends in Springville and Provo. Mi-, and Mrs. Herbert A. Towers Tow-ers have just returned from a delightful trip in which they covered 13 states and also visited A group of friends including Miss Pauline Clyde, Miss Jeanne Neill, Miss Mary Huntington, Miss Virginia Clyde, Miss Elaine Brock-bank, Brock-bank, Miss Delia Baxter, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Anna Mendenhall, motored to Midway Hot Pots for a swim and lunch Tuesday. The group also visited Miss Margaret Madson a former resident of Springville, at Heber City. The First ward Beehive class under the direction of Miss Luell Best spent the week end on an outing at Balsam park, Hobble Creek canyon. Hiking, swimming and other sports were enjoyed by about a dozen class members. Miss Elma Straw of Salt Lake City has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Edgar Best and other relatives rela-tives here the past week. Miss Louise Childs and Miss Louise Long have spent the past two weeks with relatives in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Almon Harmer, Misses Mae and Bessie Finley and Elden Palfreyman recently returned from a delightful trip through the canyons and other places of interest in southern Utah. Among the enjoyable summer parties of the past week was one given Friday evening by Mrs. Mary Schwartz complimentary to Mrs. Aleen Wheeler Parker, who is visiting here from Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Maude Ogden, who is leaving soon to reside in Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Ruth Whiting Whit-ing Anderson, a recent bride. Prizes were won by Mrs. Bernice Johnson and Eva Allen. A tasty Junch was also enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Houtz of Mapleton, announce the engagement engage-ment of their daughter, Mozelle, to John C. Cox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Cox of 656 Leland avenue, Salt Lake City. The marriage will take place August 19 in the Salt Lake L. D. S. temple. The bride-elect is a graduate of the Brigham Young university, universi-ty, and was a member of the Thallian Social unit. Mr. Cox is a graduate of the University of Utah and is well known in Utah musical circles. A wedding reception will be held at the home of the bride-elect's bride-elect's parents, August 20, in the form of a lawn party. Invitations have been issued to about 200 relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Niell Ogden and family plan to leave in the near future to make their home in Salt Lake City. The couple spent considerable time in Chicago, 111., and also viewed the Edison Institute at Dearborn, Mich., visited Notre Dame at South Bend, and numerous other places of outstanding interest in the larger" cities throughout the east and middle west.. The rooms were decorated dec-orated with vari-colored balloons for the occasion and a delightful period of games was played under un-der the direction of Norma Snel-son, Snel-son, Vilate Latimer and Betty Gene Bringhurst, who assisted the hostess with the party. Lowry Anderson, program pro-gram chairman, explained the proposed program for the year and a discussion followed. Mrs. Hannah Clyde was welcomed as a new member into the club. Miss Carol Bird was a guest at a nicely arranged party Saturday Sat-urday night given by Miss Fannie Buckley at her home in the Hill-crest Hill-crest apartments, Salt Lake City. The Gleaner Girls of the Second Sec-ond ward enjoyed a party Tuesday Tues-day night at the home of Mrs. Mabell Hansen. Assisting hostesses host-esses were Mary Boyer, Marie and Virginia Simkins and Avis Thompson. A delightful program was given with a vocal solo by Miss Eva Starr and a review of the book, "The Golden Legend," by Mrs. Mae Huntington. Twenty-eight Twenty-eight members and guests were in attendance. The next meeting of the girls will be held on Aug. 18, in the form of a canyon party. par-ty.
