Show TO OBSERVE 62ND WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mr. an dMrs. Josepn E. Harmer, pioneer residents of "Springville, will observe their sixty-second wedding anniversary next Monday. Mon-day. On account of Mr. Harmer's health no special celebration is planned. The Herald extends their best wishes to the couple on this day. Mr. Harmer was born May 14, 1S49, in Potowotamie county, Iowa. He came to Sprigville with his parents at the age of three years and has resided here since. As a young man he freighted provisions pro-visions from the middle 'west to Utah. Later he became one of the most pi'ominent farmers in this community. He endured the hardships of pioneer liie and has assisted in the building of this city. He has always been active in church and civic affairs and is at present a member of the stake high priests quorum. Born in St. Joseph, Missouri March 7, 1850, a daughter of Thomas and Sydia Harrington Avery, Mrs Hai'mer came to Springville at the age of twelve years and has lived here since. Though she has taken little part in community and church affairs, she has taken a special pride in her home and its surroundings. She has known the hardships and inconvien'ces of a pioneer mother. The couple were married in the endowment house Salt Lake, February Feb-ruary 5, 1S72. They made the trip in a covered wagon requiring several sev-eral days for the journey. Four other couples accompanied them and were married the same day. One or both of each of the other couples have passed away. Mr. and Mrs. Harmer are parents par-ents of eight children, four of whom are living: Mrs. Lydia Sums-ion, Mrs. Zclla Wignall H. Harmer Jr., Springville; Frank Harmer, Yakima, Washington. Wash-ington. There are also 18 grandchildren grand-children and 21 great-grandchildren. |
