Show ORGANIZATION FOR CANCER CUREJS MADE ' Early cancer is curable. Fight it with knowledge," is the slogan of the women's field army. The objective of the field army is primarily education. It will enlist en-list the active interest of the entire en-tire population to the end that the facts about controlling cancer can-cer may be fully understood and that people will learn to take every precaution to check the development of fche disease in themselves and in those about them. Under the guidance of the medical med-ical authorities in each state, each woman's organization is asked to cooperate and every individual woman is urged to take an interest inter-est in what is to be one of the greatest and most determined campaigns for the protection of human life. Cancer destroys nearly 145,000 persons each year in this country. Perhaps half of these deaths could be prevented if a few simple facts about the disease were known. Today, cancer control is prevented pre-vented by ignorance and fear. Tomorrow, To-morrow, if the Women's field army is successful, the mystery that surrounds this disease will have been ' dispelled by careful, education. We can save upwards of 60,000 lives by putting to rout fear and ignorance. An organization has been effected ef-fected in Springville with Mrs. G. L. Barron as chairman and the following representatives from these organizations: American Legion Auxiliary, Mrs. Inez Chad-er; Chad-er; Relief Societies, Second ward, Mrs. John S. Boyer; Third ward, Mrs. Virgil Bird; Fourth, ward, Mrs. A. O. Thom; Mapleton, Mrs. Richard Bird; Missionary Society, Mrs. Peter Forsyth; Mothers' Study club, Mrs. A. G. Thorn; Alpha Beta club, Mrs. F. W. Hoffman; Home Culture club, Mrs. G. L. Barron. Mrs. Sterling Ercanbrack, district dis-trict manager, announces a mass meeting to be held at the Women's Wo-men's clubhouse on Third North and University avenue, Provo, Friday, March 19, at 2 p. m. Dr. J. M. Flude of California, will give an illustrated lecture on cancer control. The public is invited in-vited to attend. There will be no admission fee. Everyone who is interested in checking this dread disease should attend. |
