The Mapleton M Men basketball team lost their first game to the Second ward last Saturday night in the high school gym. Tuesday night they motored to Price and played the all-stars of Carbon high school. . The three one-act plays presented present-ed by the M. I. A. last Thursday evening were a big success. The following plays were presented: "Just Elmer" with the following cast: Elmer, Harley Whiting; mother, Myrle Diamond; Susan, Naomi Harmer; Jamie, Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet LeRoy; Janie, Mrs. Lenore Bills; Hubert, Orwin Bird; colored lady, Grace Holley; seamstress, Mrs. LaRie Warren; Russ, Faye Dibble. "The Maker of Dreams", cast including:- Manufacturer, Merrill Binks; Pierrette, Ferl Nielson; Pierrot, Elmo Jensen. "Miss Orr" with cast of: Lu-cretia, Lu-cretia, Mrs. Maxine Hales; Miss Orr, Mrs. Beth Jensen; Elizabeth, Mozelle Houtz; Doctor Morton, Clyde Larsen. The dancers representing Mapleton Maple-ton M. I. A. at the gold and green ball have been chosen and with these, together with our queen, Mozelle Houtz, we expect to make a good showing at the ball Miss Mae Johnson is convalescing conval-escing from an operation for appendicitis, ap-pendicitis, performed at the Huhges hospital at Spanish Fork, 'ast Monday. Her condition was -eported to be quite serious. Mrs. Myra Murray has returned .o her home after an enjoyable asit with her sons, Ellis and Fred Hurray of St. George. Mrs. Claudia Whitney is at her lome now after undergoing a major operation last week. She is reported doing very nicely. Mrs. Hattie Jensen spent part of last week in Carbon visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Clara Arnett and family of Columbia. Mrs. Leonard Whiting and infant in-fant daughter returned to their home here after spending some time with her mother Mrs. Evans of Lake Shore. The Mapleton ward bishopric extend a hearty invitation to all members and former residents of Mapleton to attend the ward reunion re-union to be held on the eighth of February. A splendid program has been outlined and a good time promised to all who attend. The Sheep-Feeders' dance and the annual "49" dance will be held in the near future. Public is invited. The Mapleton Male chorus will put on a rnusi'cjl program Thursday Thurs-day night at 7:30 in the chapel. The chorus will be interspersed with vocal solos, quartet, duet and instrumental numbers. They have been practicing under the direction of Carl Nelson of the Payson high school music department. The public pub-lic is invited to attend. Admission 10c per capita. Mrs. Joseph Malstrom, a former for-mer resident of Mapleton, spent the week with relatives and friends of Mapleton and Springville. Spring-ville. She was the Sunday dinner guest of Mrs. Austin Houtz. The high priests of Mapleton ward are holding a social party in he school house next Saturday light. All high priests are asked :o be present. |
