Show T. E. Child Reaches 78th Milestone; Lived Useful Life T. E. Child, Sr., pioneer resident of this city, observed his seventy-eighth seventy-eighth birthday Tuesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. George Peterson. Mr. Child suffered a stroke about two weeks ago and has been confined con-fined to his bed since. He was born in Salt Lake City in 1855 but came to Springville with his parents the same year and has lived here since. As a brick mason he has assisted assist-ed in construction of many homes in this community and has always contributed liberally to the construction con-struction of the church buildings here. His wife Mrs. Emily Whiting Child, whom he married in 1876 died 22 years ago. There are four sons and daughters, Mrs. George Peterson, Mrs. A. G. Peterson, T. E. Child., Jr. and Will Child all of Springville, also 19 grandchildren. Though Mr. Child has been blind for several years, he was especially especial-ly active and had enjoyed good health until recently. He was able to find his way unassisted about town and to the homes of friends and relatives. |
