Show MAPLETON WINS JOURNEY Vanguard Scouts Of Maple- ton Win Vanball Meet; Go To Finals Vanguard scouts of .Mapleton won the vanball championship of the Timpanogos scout council Saturday Sat-urday evening, squeezing out the Provo Second ward in the final moments of the tournament and insuring them a place in the church-wide finals at fhe Deseret gym at Salt Lake next Saturday. The Mapleton vanguards will compete in the church finals in a tournament which starts at 3:30 Saturday afternoon. j The Mapleton vanguards won the best two. out of three games over all their opponents, only taking out the Provo Second in the final found. Teams from Beaver and Lc'hi, winners in their respective districts, took third and fourth. The winning squad was comprised compris-ed of Carl Wiscomb, captain; Elmo Jensen, Fred Allen, David Perry, Verl Johnson, Verl Jensen, Harold Harmer, Lawrence Bird and Floyd Hollcy, with six of them making up the first team. At Saturday nights tournament Scout Executive A. A. Anderson was in charge, Ralph G. Smith', vanguard commissioner, was referee ref-eree and Royal Chamberlain, vanguard van-guard leader of Provo Fourth ward umpire. |
