Show SOCIETY NEVS Mrs. LaCelle Sumsion with he-sister he-sister Mrs. Joseph Feullenback of Stockton, Cal., spent the past week with their mother Mrs. Harriet. Johnson- and brother Reed Johnson John-son and family at Richfield. Mrs. Deil Rowland spent several" days of the past week with her daughter Mrs. Willard Miner and family at Tooele. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Nielson spent Sunday with friends at Goshen. Mr. and Mrs. Will Boyer of Salt Lake were guests early this week of Mr. Boyer's mother, Mrs. Co-lestia Co-lestia Boyer in this city. Members of the Ava Delma club and their partners entertained at a delightful canyon party at Kel-ley's Kel-ley's Grove on Friday night in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Thorpe who are leaving to reside at Bristol, Nev. A delicious supper and outdoor sports were enjoyed by the following couples: Mr. and Mrs. Warren Beardall, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Fry, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Hark-et), Hark-et), Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Tripp, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Smith and the guests of honor. Officers and teachers of the Third ward Sunday school and their paitners entertained at a social so-cial at Geneva last Tuesday night. Over thirty guests atended and enjoyed en-joyed an evening of bathing, lunch and games. Mrs. C. A. Smith of SaltLake has visited the past two weeks with her sister Mrs. Elden Jenkins and family here. Mrs. Jenkins is convalescing con-valescing from a recent appendicitis appendi-citis operation. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Falkner and daughter of Salt Lake were guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wing. Mrs. Emma Coplan has returned to her home at Mesa, Ariz., after a short visit with her daughter Mrs. J. M. Sumsion and family. The Misses Norma Averett and Helen Wheeler spent the past week on an outing in Hobble Creek canyon. can-yon. In honor of Harold L. Wilson former for-mer pastor of the Springville Community Com-munity church, a large group of friends and church members entertained enter-tained at a picnic supper and social ! at Glengarry Monday afternoon j and evening. Bathing and a ball game were other enjoyable fea-I fea-I tures of the party, with nearly a j hundred people in attendance. Mr. Wilson left Tuesday evening to return re-turn to Providence, Rhode Island. The Fourth ward Relief society j held their regular monthly meeting I Tuesday afternoon-at the home of Mrs. J. A. Reynolds. An intorest- ing program and dainty rof ivsh-j ivsh-j ments were enjoyed by a large j group of members present. Miss Jane Alleman assisted by ; Dona Snell, Helen Clark. Lucy Wainwright and Mabelle Hanson j entertained members of the Second i ward Gleaner class Tuesday eve- ning. A feature of the entertain ment was an interesting account by Helen Alleman of her recent visit to the world's fair and other places in the east including those of church historical interest. The girls also worked on their scrap books. Refreshments were served ; to., about 24 guests preent. Complimentary to Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Sorenson, who were married mar-ried Wednesday, the bride's parents, par-ents, Mr. anl Mrs. C. E. Eggertsen, enteitained at a nicely arranged dinner at their home Tuesday evening. eve-ning. A large wedding cake cen-! cen-! tered the dining table which was covered with a gorgeous maderia cloth cover. A gift to the bride from Mr. Sorenson's mother. Yellow and pink roses added to the deceptive scheme. Covers were laid for the bride and groom, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sud weeks, Mrs. Emma Sorenson, Mr. and Mrs. Claude A. Eggertsen of Provo, W. A. Nesbit of Los Angeles, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thorpe, and the host and hostess. The L-8 club members were en- j tertained Wednesday afternoon with a visit to Startup's candy factory fac-tory at Provo, accompanied by Lenore Condie. Later the girls returned re-turned to the home of Mary Whiting Whit-ing where a dainty lunch was served to Gene UUock, Dorothy Hill, Betty Louise Boyer, lone Averett, Dorothy Evans, Aleen and Lenore Condie, Ruth Baxter and the hostess. I Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Wing have returned re-turned from California after a delightful de-lightful three weeks' viit with relatives and friends. While there Mr. and Mrs. Wing celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary which occurred on July 29. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Eggertsen of this city announce the marriage of their daughter Virginia to Fred C. Sorensen, son of Mrs. Emma Sor-sensen Sor-sensen of Logan which took place Wednesday August 16 in the Salt Lake temple. The bride and groom are well-known and popular members mem-bers of social, literary and scholastic scho-lastic organizations both here and at Piovo. After a three week's trip to the Canadian Rockies they j will make their home at Provo. Mr. j Sorensen being employed as in- , structor in the Dixon junior high school. An enjoyable evening was spent : at Vivian park last Tuesday by the Novelty Circle girls and their part-! part-! neis. The girls of 'the liast Bench 4-H Sewing club met with Mrs. Bessie Weight Stevens Saturday and en-! en-! joyed sewing on summer dresses. j Their next meeting will be held ; Thursday afternoon. I |
