TORONTO, Ont., Oct. 12 ' (U.R) Hope was virtually abandoned today for the safety safe-ty of four women and three ; men who left Saturday for a fishing trip to Miller island in Laxder lake, western Ontario. A searching- party which flew over the lake reported it had lighted the party's boat, upside iown, lying on the Miller Island j bench. Oars, blankets and other supplies were scattered on . the beach around it. j ' The members of the party were John C. Skinner, chief engineer of he Lake Snore mines, and his wife; l Bertha Forester, Gravenhurat, a, I mines steviographer; Wilma Tin- f combe, Gravenhurst, and Anna f Monck, Timmins, both mine clerks; ) 1 Thomas Cunningham, Scotland, t Mine bookkeeper, and Colin Webster. Web-ster. ' Search was started for tfne seven , when they failed to arrive at the Miller island cabin of E. B. Sherwood, Sher-wood, with whom they had planned a visit. Provincial police joined civilian posses which ' pushed through the woods surrounding rh4 i lake. A storm hampered them.
