Show HIGH SCHOOL NOTES . J The Springville high school faculty facul-ty has arranged the following tentative tent-ative program for the various major activities of the school this year: School play, November 18; Ag club ball. November 23; Sophomore Vodie, December 16; Opera, February Febru-ary 10; Junior Prom, February 24;. department play, March 10; Senior hop, April 6. .. . Occasions may arise to necessitate necessi-tate some 'changes in these dates, but it is planned to carry out the activity program as nearly as possible. pos-sible. According to the program which was instituted last year, various clubs have been organized ' in the junior department, in which all high school students are participating. participat-ing. Three 45 minute periods each week are devoted to this work. Clarence Tuttle who has all the club work in charge is organizing a ninth grade penmanship class which will be affiliated with the National Good Writers Club of America, sponsored by the American Ameri-can Penman. ' Over 100 students are enrolled in the art club conducted by Wayne Johnson, who has three classes one in dry point, one in sketch book, and one in water colors. Practically all seventh and eighth grade girls are enrolled in Glee club conducted by Lucille Stowell, who is also ' sponsoring a - harmonica club for the seventh grade, and a needle art club for ninth grade girls. One of the most popular clubs among the boys is the wrestling and boxing club directed by Ned : McBeth. Mr. McBeth is giving Instructions In-structions in tumbling also. During the winter he expects to give an interesting in-teresting public demonstration of the work accomplished In their ath-leic ath-leic activity. Earl S. Groesbeck has charge of the Boy Scout club and is cmphaslz- ing Indian craft, archery and other outdoor activities . The Junior Ag club is organized with a membership of 20 students, studying dairying, poultry, sheep and hogs, under the direction of V. C. Mendenhall. These clubs are all elective and all students have the privilege of selecting the club to which they wish to belong. Organization of the Pcp-Etls, new activity club of the Springville high school is announced with Miss Laura Banner elected president; Miss Coba Snffcl, vice president; Miss Lucy Zabriskic, secretary-Fox, secretary-Fox, yell master; Miss Leah Bryce, treasurer and reporter; Miss Cleon assistant. Any junior or senior girl Is eligible eli-gible to join the olub providing tliey attain a "B" grade average. The association will sponsor the program at the school assembly Friday preceding the football game with Carbon high school. The club plans to take a leading lead-ing part in the school activities this year. |
