Show RABBIT HUNT -I NEMSCIPIO A large group of Provo and Pay-son Pay-son sportsmen engaged in a very , successful rabit hunt west of Scip-io Scip-io Sunday. Approximately 1,000 rabbits were bagged by the hunteis who were invited to participate in the hunt by ranchmen of Chat locality. local-ity. Jack rabbits are a serious menace men-ace in many ranch and range districts dis-tricts of the west, the rabbits often becoming so numerous that systematic syste-matic poisoning campaigns have become be-come necessary to save the crops and ranges upon which the prolific rrbbits forage. Sportsmen of course prefer the shotgun to poisoning and the ranchers are only too glad to assist in rounding up the bunnies and driving them into range of the hunter's guns. The sportsmen deploy in an open skirmish line and walk slowly through' the sagebrush bordering the cultivated fieTtl3. The ranchers on horseback perform flanking maneuvers upon the enemy pests often driving them directly toward the advancing hunters. It is the intention of the Payson nnd Provo gunners to return to Scipio Sunday, January 4, with the object of enjoying another rabbit hunt and to further assist the .ranchers in reducing the rodent pests in that locality. |
