Show 2 DISTRICT 5 1 GAMESFRIDAY Athough no crucial games will be played in District 5 next Friday, the two contests slated for that day will aid in determining just how strong are a couple of teams whose showing thus far has been such that they are rather unknown quantities. One of these teams is Lincoln which will play that strong offensive offen-sive team from American Fork. Now when "offensive" is used in elation to the American Fork team it doesn't in the least mean Coach Grant Ingersoll's boys have bad breath or B. O., it simply means f that the Cavemen have demonstrated demon-strated a vicious scoring punch. The dope to guess on in the Lin-coln-A. F. game is the relative showing of Lincoln and American Fork against Pleasant Grove. Lincoln Lin-coln and the Berrymen battled to a scoreless tie, while the Cavemen walloped P. G. 62-0 last Friday. What upsets this apparently straight dope is Lincoln's defensive showing, so far. They held Wasatch high to a scoreless tie in a practice game and the Lehi Pelicans were unable to score on them in a game last Friday which the Railsplitters won 6-0. American Fork is likely to get on the scoring side of the Lincoln goal several times, however, and it is not unlikely that Lincoln will score on the Cavemen. Coach Sanky Dixon's team resorted to the air against Lehi and the boys may be able to tatly by use of passes against American Fork. In the Other league game of the district Lehi engages Pleasant Grove in a tussle. Ii'either team has been impressive in its games thus far, both having mostly green timber all the way through. Pee Gee has a coupe of backs in Jack SpencM and "Doc" Jenson who are showing up well but the Grover team is not well enough grounded in the fundamentals to be much of a scoring threat. |
