Show I MAPLETON Miss Ruth Wiscombe entertained a number of friends at her home Saturday evening. The evening was spent in playing outdooi games. Present were Miss Fay Whiting, Miss Louise Plumlee, Miss Irene Jensen, Miss Grace Holley, Miss Muriel Jensen, Miss Wilma Whiting, Merrill Binks, Harley Whiting, Stanley Bird, and Rex Whiting and the hostess. A watermelon "bust" and luncheon followed the games. Mrs. Joseph Jensen is spending .the week in Strawberry with her husband, who is employed there. The Bee Hive girls of Kolob stake were entertained Friday evening eve-ning by the Mapleton Bee Hive! girls and teachers and the stake teachers, Arlene Mendenhall and Floss Harmer. Progressive games were played, prizes being awarded to Miss Muriel Jensen and to Miss Millie Jensen, for consolation. After wards competitive games were played. Refreshments were served to seventy guests. A lovely time was had by all. A Primary dance was held Saturday Satur-day afternoon in the ward amusement amuse-ment hall to collecet the dime fund and honoring the outgoing Mi Kan Wee girls who are: Wilma Whiting, Millie Jensen, Erma Mendenhall, Muriel Jensen. President Hazel Binks of the Primary was in charge of the Sunday Sun-day night meeting. A piano solo wao rendered by Naomi Tew; the Mi Kan Wee slogan was repeated ; by Wilma Whiting, Millie Jensen, Eima Mendenhall and Muriel Jensen. Jen-sen. These girls were awarded certificates of graduation from the Primary and were welcomed into the Mutual by Mrs. Amanda Binks. Bishop Wainwright of the Second ward was the speaker. A regular P.-T. A. meeting will be held Thursday night at 7:30 o'clock in the church building, according ac-cording to announcement of P.-T. A. officers. All parents are urged to attend. The Daughters of the Pioneers will be entertained Thursday afternoon after-noon at the home of Mrs. Emily Jordan. A splendid program has been arranged. Members are requested re-quested to attend. Stewart Whiting, 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Whiting, sustained a broken leg between the knee and ankle, late Monday evening eve-ning when he fell from the horse he was riding. His condition is re-' re-' ported as being good. Charles Whiting, Miss Bessie Diamond and Miss Helert Whiting returned Sunday evening from a I four-days' trip to Strawberry. They returned" with a nice catch of fisa from Strawberry reservoir. Miss Josephine Peterson accompanied accom-panied by Miss Blanch Whiting, Miss Grace Holley, Orvin, Irene and Don Bird, motored to Manti Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Whiting and family. Miss Grace Holley remained in Nephi as a: guest for the day of Miss Wanda Ingham. |
