Show Promising Musician's Life Taken In Crash; Funeral Friday At 2 I Rulon Crandall, 30, son of Myron My-ron L. and Viola Crandall of this city, was Instantly killed at a street intersection in Price at 10:15 o clock Tuesday night, when a car in which he was ' riding collided with an automobile xl riven by Hinar Johnson, 22, of Kerron, Emery county. Mr. Crandall was thrown againat the cement curbing as his car. was hurled over by Johnson's machine. ma-chine. In the crash he suffered a-fractured a-fractured skull and Internal injuries. in-juries. He was taken to the Price general hospital, where members of the hospital staff expressed the belief that death was instantaneous. instantan-eous. The body was taken " in charge by Deseret Mortuary and brought to the Provo plant of that a , firm Wednesday afternoon. Hammond, the accident .was 1 held to be avoidable, and Johnson was held in the Price jail on a charge of involuntary miinsltoigh- ter, according to information given j out Wednesday evening by mew- " bers of the family who attended f the inquest. f Mr. Crandall was working at ) Spring Canyon with his brother, Lawrence D., where they were engaged en-gaged in binding books "'far. the public schools, of Carbon county. He was born in Springville.- December De-cember 15, 1901, where he attended, the public schools and later Springville Spring-ville high school. . . .'7 He was well known throughout this state as a promising vocalist. He possessed a rich tenor voice of j exceptional quality. -He had sung at ".many entertainments in - this city and throughout the state, including in-cluding radio. He was vocalist for Springville band, and had sung at many concerts given by that well known organization. ' He had been a student of Richard- Condie, j noted Utah tenor, who gave Mr. Crandall much encouragement. He had already made plans to go 'to New York and Boston in the near future to continue .his studies in ; music. J In addition to his parents he Is j survived by . his wife, Norma I Humphrey Crandall, and tha following fol-lowing brothers and sisters: Martin Mar-tin P. Crandall, Springville; Dr. My ran - L Crandall, Jr., and Miss Louise .Crandall of Rawlins, Wyo.; Lawrence D. Crandall, Provo; Mrs. Amasa Rawland,. Springville. Funeial .services .will be held in. the Fourth ward Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The body may be viewed at the home of his parents, 113 South First East, Springville, prior to the services. Bishop S. L. Mendenhall, Jr., will be in charge. |
