Show SOCIETY NEVS Mrs. Esther Johnson was hostess to the S. T. club members Thursday Thurs-day evening. Following four games of progressive bridge a delicious luncheon was served at three small tables. The prize for the evening's entertainmnt was awarded to Mrs. Hazel Harrison. Twelve members were present. Members of th 4-H club were en-terainedl en-terainedl Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Frank Sanford. Those present were Marie Hooper, Lucille Best, Barbara, Ruth and La Vern Sanford, Mildred and Marjorie Houtz, Vera, Verda and Norma Brown. A nicely arranged dinner was given by Mrs Martha Harrison at the Harrison hotel complimentary to Mr and Mrs Harold Whiting who were recently married and for her son, Borton, and a number of friends. Social chat and music were enjoyable features. Those present were Naomi Broadbent, Wi'.ma Hansen, Lorna Jensen, Eugene Eu-gene Johnson, Howard Maycock, Mr. and Mrs. Whiting and Berton Harrison. Miss Pearl Starr and Miss Anna Star rentertained for Miss Helen Riedel of Oakland, California, at a trousseau tea Wednesc'vay afternoon. after-noon. In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Whiting who were married Wednesday Wed-nesday in the Salt Lake temple, the Misses Maria antil Zina Johnson John-son entertained at a nicely arranged ar-ranged dinner at their home on Thursday evening. They were as-Kister as-Kister by their sister, Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Miner and Mrs. Clara Sum-sion. Sum-sion. During dinner a program of toasts and social chat were enjoyed. enjoy-ed. Guests included members of the immediate families and a few friends. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Whiting Whit-ing and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jensen and family of Maple-ton, Maple-ton, Mrs. Eliza Thorn, Mr. and Mrs, A. W. Finley, Mr, and Mrs. Floyd Miner and family, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Sumsion, Mr. and Mrs. Le Granite Caj-lsen of Salem, Mell Haymond, the Misses Elva Cox of Provo, Beth Anderson, Donna Creer, and Grace Brown of Spanish Fork, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Whiting. Mr. and Mrs. Whiting plan to leave this week for New York city where they will make their home. Mrs. Jack Hoskins and daughter,. Joan, left Friday for their home in Santa Barbara, Calif., after spending two months in Springville with the former's mother, Mrs. Clara Smith and daughter, Hazel Smith. Miss Luell Straw returned the past week from Salt Lake where she has spent three weeks with friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Bird spent Sunday with friends in Helper. It was Mr. Bird's birthday and dinner din-ner was given in his honor. ! Dix Jones, son of Mr. andl Mrs. C. R. Jones of this city, will leave the latter part of this month to fill an L. D. S. mission in Germany Ger-many and Austria. In his honor many social functions have been given here and in Provo recently. Prominent among these was the social given last Monday evening by the First ward in the amusement amuse-ment hall. A delightful time was spent by a large crowd of ward members and friends. Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Thorn spent several days of the past week on business and with relatives in Idta-ho. Idta-ho. On their return they were accompanied ac-companied to Springville by Mrs. Lois Martindale and daughter, Kathleen of Ruthfield, and Mrs. Delcie Clyde of Heyburn, who plan to visit relatives here. Miss Helen Riedel, Miss Jane 'Reidel and Miss Charlotte Johnson John-son of Oakland, California, were guests at the home of Mr. ancl Mrs. C. A. Star during the past week. In celebration of the beautiful new carpel and other equipment recently re-cently installed in the First ward Relief Society hall, officers of that organization entertained at an enjoyable en-joyable social Tuesday afternoon. An interesting program followed by refreshments were enjoyed by a large crowds of members and friends. Practically every ward organization organiza-tion of both the M. I. A. and primary prim-ary associations and the stake boards of both auxiliaries were represented rep-resented at the June convention in Salt Lake the past week. , The dining room was artistically decorated in lavender and yellow, white peonies and June roses were arranged about other rooms. W. Farrar, Misses Ada Lilas and Mrs. S. D. Mendcnhall, Misses Mary Starr and Madge Righy of Salt Lake city, Misses Anna and Eleanor Stark, Mrs. E. W. White, Mrs. G. W. White and Mrs. Lois-White Lois-White of Spanish Fork, Misses Etta Et-ta and Allie Scorup of Provo, Misses Nora, Edna and' Eva Starr, Mrs. Donna Shell, Miss Myrtle Childs, Miss Ida Packard, Mrs. Lowry Anderson, Mrs. Wayne Smith, Mrs. Hugh Baxter, Mrs. Vern Crandall, and Mrs. Simkins, of Springville. Misses Lucy Wainwright, Helen Fox and Inez Starr sang and Mrs. Maurid Bird, Chauncy Childs and Orman Weight furnished the instrumental in-strumental music during the afternoon. after-noon. Mrs Rose B. Boyer and Mrs. Tess H. Hatfield were hostesses Thursday at the latter's home to the Adams Ward of the Daughters of the Pioneers. The program consisted con-sisted of: A novelty quartette which e;nve two numbers; a play ' entitled "The"TfntVpe Lady," tirttldh was read by Mrs. Boyer and enact ed1 by Mrs. R. Pace, and Mrs. Tess Hatfield., The concluding numbers were histories that were read by members of the camp of their mothers and theh early activities of Utah.
