Show 'SOUVENIR BOX IS PLANNED BY RELIEFSCOETY An informal social and program was held Tuesday afternoon by the Relief Society stake board and ward executive .officers for the purpose of collecting material and planing it in a box to be opend ii, fiuy years. The affair was held at the home ef.Mi-s. G. w. Mendenhall with President Hannah Mendenhall presiding. pre-siding. Among the interesting Items placed in the box were a history of the , stake and ward Relief Society So-ciety organizations; pictures of stake board! members; the Relief Society magazine; teachers book; individual letters from stake officials of-ficials and others; outline of the Relief Society pageant; minutes of the socials etc. The box was not idled and therefore will' not be locked until July 24 at which time those wishing to place anything in may do so until that time. Three members had letters placed in the box Tuesday, who were present on a similiar occasion and placed letters let-ters in a Relief Society box fifty years ago. They were Mrs. Phobe Sh-gleton, Mrs. Ellen K. Wheeler and Mrs. Celestia Whitmore. President Presi-dent Mendenhall offered a prayer for the future of the society and a special prayer for the occasion was given by Mrs. Julia Maycock, oldest old-est stake board member present. Other program numbers included solo, Mrs. Guy Brown, reading. Mrs. Irene Strong; piano solo, Mrs. Mary Witney; reading, Mrs. Florence Flor-ence Simkins; vocal solo, Mrs. Norma Nor-ma Strong; demonstration of psychology by Mrs. Jensina Wal-lick Wal-lick and Mrs. Christa Lee; a foie-cast foie-cast of the opening of the box, Mrs Anna Johnson. Refreshments were served at the close of the social to approximately thirty-five guests present. |
