Show DRINK IS FATAL TO PRISONER Embalming- Fluid "Cocktails" Kill One Texas Convict; Two Others Ar"e Blinded, J One Seriously III HUNTSVILLE, Tex., Julv 1. (U.R) Cocktails mixed of embalming fluid and drunk within prison ' walls were blamed today for the death pf one convict, the blinding of two others and the serious illness ill-ness of a fourth, in the state penitentiary here. The convict cocktail party was held Sunday afternoon behind the prison blacksmith shop. Ernest "Shorty" Hamilton, 23, of Mingus, died Monday in convulsions convul-sions and Aubrey Charles, Nocona, and' William Duncan, McKinney,' became blind. Robert Stewart, Monroe, La., became be-came seriously ill and, with Duncan Dun-can and Charles still was in the prison, hospital today. Warden W. W. Waid said he has established almost definitely that the men went on a spree with embalming em-balming fluid stolen from the penitentiary peni-tentiary morgue. |
