Show KIWAN1S CLUB WILL OBSERVE ANNIVERSARY ' Tho Sprinijville Kiwanis club will join with 1758 other clubs of Kiwan-is Kiwan-is International in the Unite'd States and Canada during the wek of January Jan-uary 20 to 26 to observe the fourteenth four-teenth anniversary of the organization's organi-zation's founding, according to John R. Anderson, club president, The first Kiwanis club was organized or-ganized in Detroit and thtf first ' meeting was held on January 21, 1915. The International organization, organiza-tion, therefore recognizes January 21 as the anniversary date. "Kiwanis has had remarkable growth," obse'rvejs Dr. Anderson. "At present there are 1758 clubs with a membership of over 102,000. A. S. Cummings, of Kansas City, is the International president. "During our anniversary observance, observ-ance, the club will stress the' major objectives i for 1929, These are: under privileged child work, vocational voca-tional guidance and placement, rural-urban relations, citizenship en. dc'avors, and other general social and civic undertakings." The meeting on January 34 is under un-der the direction of the education and classification committee. The i following program has been arranged: ar-ranged: toastmaster, M. O. Packard; Pack-ard; speake'r. Dr. J. Karl Beck, subject, sub-ject, "Kiwanis International"; several sev-eral five-minute talks, by members: vocal solo, Helen Palfreyman. |
