Show MANY ATTEND KOLOB STAKE CONFERENCE Elder George Albert Smith Main Speaker at Mapleton Sessions Elder George Albert Smith of the iiuorum of the Twelve represented the general auborities of the L. D. S. church at the regular quarterly conference of the Kolob stake held Saturday and Sunday at Mapleton. President George R. Maycock presided pre-sided at the four regular sessions and C. It. Jones. suierintendent of Ihe stake Y. M. M. I. A., presided over the Sunday evening session. A large number of people were present at all of the gatherings, and everybody expressed .appreciation over tlie timely advice given by the presiding officers. Among the in-lerestiug in-lerestiug features of the conference were the addresses by Attorney Daniel II. Thomas of Salt Lake City and a Mr. Davis of Buffalo, both of whom accompanied Elder Smith to tlie conference. Mr. Thonms spoke Saturday morning, and Sunday afternoon and gave a highly entertaining address on "The Latter-day Saints a Law-abiding 'People." Oilier speakers at the conference 'were Elder Smith, President May-cock, May-cock, Edwin M. Snow. Henry T. Reynolds, Dr. Reuben I,. Hill of Logan. .L Frank Kringhurst. William Wil-liam T. Tew Jr.. who spoke on seminary semi-nary work, and Ernest M. Boyer, superintendent of die stake Religion class. Several recently returned missionaries also related some Interesting In-teresting experiences they had in Ihe mission field. Among these-were Miss Carol Bird from the Mexican mission, Albert S. Hutcuings from I lie Gerinaii-Auslrian mission. William Wil-liam T. Tew from the California mission, Jesse II. -Whiting from the northwestern states mission, Guy W. Mendenhall from tlie California mission, Cornell Jessee from the northern states mission. The music was rendered by the Mapleton ward choir under the direction di-rection of Mrs. C. E. Whiting. At the Sunday evening session the music was rendered by the Peerless quartet. Solos were sung by Melba Condie and Howard Maycock. |
