Groesbeck formerly of Springville but now carrying on a furniture business at Reno, Nev., was a Springville visitor during the holidays. Stanley Staton was in town during dur-ing the hoidays doing some engineering engineer-ing work for the Utah Railway Co. Mr. Stanton is now making his home inSalt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Chlid and son Arville and T. E. Child who are spending the winter at Los Angeles and W. F. Packord of Los Angeles, visited the great rose tournament at Pasadena on New Year's day. The mammoth parade consisted of 175 floats, nio-de of carnations and roses, 35 bands and was three miles in length. The spectators that witnessed wit-nessed the parade were estimated at 400,000. It was the most elaborate elab-orate in the city's history. Word has come from Mr. and Mrs. IT. Lee Boyor who are spending the winter with Mr. Lillywhite at Mesa, Ariz., that at Christmas time when the temperature in Springville registered reg-istered 2G degrees below zero, they were picking cotton and that the weather was 'uncomfortably warm. A new line of telephone poles have been erected on First East street from Fourth North to the street running east on the south side of the Jefferson school. It appears ap-pears that the telephone company is moving the main trunk line off from Main street to First East street. Mrs. James E. Hart left Monday evening for her home in Salt Lake City, after spending a week with her daughter, Mrs. A. L. Goates. Miss Merlene Stevenson has returned re-turned from a three months trip to southern California. Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Thomas and sons from Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Harry K. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Miner of Lyman, Ly-man, Wyo., spent the holidays with relatives in Springville. Mr. Miner is principal of the Lyman high school and Mrs. Miner is teaching in the grade school, A family dinner was served at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Moroni Miner on New Year's day. Covers were laid for thrity-five. Mrs. Jennie Starr entertained at New Year's dinner for Mr. and rMs. Grover Clyde and daughter Virginia, Vir-ginia, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Starr and daughters, Pearl, Annie and Inez and Miss Mary Starr of Salt Lake City. . Stewart B. Starr has returned to Logan where he will continue his study at the Agricultural college. The first car purchased from the new J. M. Nichols Ford agency, recently re-cently opened up in Springville, was a coupe by Charles Boyor. The Service Star Legion meeting announced in last weer's paper to be held at the home of Mrs. Hila Groesbeck, Thursday January 22, will be held Thursday January 15. The remarkable feature of the dinner din-ner was that all the brothers have never met together for years. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boyer and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Salisbury motored to Salt Lake Sunday to attend at-tend a Boyer reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Angus Boyer of that city. The Utah stake, officers of the Relief Society surprised Mrs. Anna S. Bird, who was formerly one of the stake board, at her home Tuesday. Tues-day. Luncheon was provided for by the officers, and a beautiful silk umbrella was presented to Mrs. Bird. A most enjoyable time was spent in relating old reminiscences.
