Show "Circus Preaching" ! Because "circus demands" made upon a minister today j are too much for him. .Rev. Tertius Van Dyke will forsake his smart metropolitan New York church and hie him to the; rural solitudes where goo dold fashioned preaching gets its audnce. 'If I did a flying; trapeze stunt my church would be crowded in the city," he says. "But circus stuff does not make men religious. So I will go .back to the country where ministers have a chance." This decision of the Reverend Van Dyke will find both enemies and friends. Certain people will reason that it is a task of a leader who feels so keenly a bad situation to stay in that situation and try to right it. We can imagine them saying: "It's his job to stay in the arena but give than an educated seal act instead of the trapeze trap-eze stuff." Others a bit more tolerant and, perhaps, older and more seasoned in the ways of the world, will applaud the decision and the return to his own kind of a man who found himself in the wrong ring. ... ... |
