Show SPRINGVILLE SUGAR STOLEN Negroes Break Into Sugar Car at Missouri Point; Take 120 Sacks. Tlali county beet sugar is alleged to have been used by Missouri moonshiners, according to a case now being tried in the federal court at Springfield, Mo. About a year ago a carload of sugar was shipped from the Spring-ville-Mapleton Sugar company at Springville to a business concern at Springfield, Mo. The day of its arrival thecal- was broken into and 120 sacks stolen. Railroad detectives traced the stolen sugar more than 80 miles from the railroad station. They also succeeded in getting confessions confes-sions from some negroes that they had broken into the car and stolen the sugar nt the request of the men on whose farms they were working. Henry Weight, of Springville, an employe at the Springville-Mapleton .Sugar company, who had charge of loading the cur and who sealed it before leaving Springville, left this week for Springfield, Mo., where he will be a witness against the alleged car robbers. |
