JO Fa ye Hanse. were victorious in the Utah county -LI I club demonstration contests con-tests held on the oening day of the I'tah county fair Tuesday, and these will represent the county at the Utah State Fair. Winners of the state competition will he sent to Fort'and, Ore., to represent Utah in g similar contest 'or nil western states. Cash Prizes Awarded Winning teams in both girls' and boys' divisions will be awarded cash prizes for their victories as well as the trip to the state event. The winning girls' team will continue demonstrations throughout the remainder re-mainder of the fair. The contest was one of the most interesting opening-day features. Elimination contests in various communities com-munities had determined the representatives repre-sentatives in county competition, which is held to develop in the club members the power to show others how to do the things they have learned to do themselves. Each team was allowed 30 minutes for demonstration. demon-stration. The Timpauogos Cooking cluh. consisting of Miss Owen Lin ford and Miss Mary Davis, won second orize. and will receive a cash award. Highland Club Second The Highland Swine club, consisting con-sisting of Bill Hunter and Wayne Day, was second in the boys' event, and also wi'l receive a cash prize. The 4-H livestock judging team from Benjamin won first place; Springville second, and Palmyra third. The following junior project livestock were exhibited: Benjamin, Benja-min, heifer calves; Payson, heifer calves ; Spanish Fork, sheep ; Pay-son, Pay-son, sheep ; Springville, swine ; Springville, poultry; Lake Shore, fat calves. Spanish Fork high school won the high school livestock judging contest, with American Fork high school second, and Springville high school fhird. |
