Show TALMAGE IS SPEAKER AT CONFERENCE Apostle Jarnes E. Talmagc of the Council of the Twelve was the principal prin-cipal speaker at the three sessions of Kolob stake conference held in 'he Springville rVrth ward chapel Saturday evening and Sunday. President O. R. Maycock presided. presid-ed. Music was under the direction of L. E. Faux, stake chorister. The opening meeting was in charge of the stake priesthood. Apostle Talmage delivered his address ad-dress on general gospel principles, before a record attendance of members mem-bers from the various departments of that organization. At the Sunday morning session which began at 10 o'clock Apostle Talmage urged the members of the church ?. be more diligent in observance ob-servance of their religious duties and he numerated the blessing which could be attained thereby. Leo d. Robertson and Ellis Strong who have recently completed short term missions, gave brief talks. The various departments of the priest-Nrvid priest-Nrvid quorum wore represented with short talks by Howard Salisbury, Salis-bury, John Patrick, Blane Clyde. C. R. Jones of the stake presidency made a few remarks. Music was by the congregation. "The Analysis of Oneself," was treated in a most interesting manner man-ner by Apostle Talmage at the concluding con-cluding conference session Sunday aftern'ron. In speaking on this subject sub-ject he drew a number of unique comparisons and related some interesting in-teresting incidents which had occurred oc-curred during his experiences and associations with different types of people. He advised each one at some time to make a thorough survey sur-vey of himself and then to make comparisons and find just where he is standing and what progress he is making. A brief and effective gospel sermon ser-mon was preached also by J. Frank Bringhurst of the stake presidency. To fill vacancies caused by the resignation of certain stake board officers the following names were presented by President G. R. May-cock. May-cock. Peter Neilson as chairman of the geneological committee to succeed D. Ford Crandall; Mrs. Mae Crandall, president of the stake board succeeding Mrs. Julia Packard; Mrs. Martha Harrison and Mrs. Mae Fletcher as councilors coun-cilors to succeed Mrs. Net Thorn and Mrs. H. T. Reynolds Sr. The stake M. I. A. w"-- in charge of the meeting held T inday evening eve-ning at which time W. A. Robertson of the general board and Logan Rich also of Salt Lake spoke ea various phases of the M. I. A slogan which deals with law and its enforcement. Mrs. Catherine Sumsion led the congregation in the slogan recitation. A splendid musical program was ahfo. given with Selvoy J. Boyer, superintendent superintend-ent of the Y. M. M. I. A. in charge |
