Merrill, professor of secondary teaching at the Brig-ham Brig-ham You.ng university and a member mem-ber of the board of education of Provo city 3chool district, was elected elect-ed president of t be Utah Education association at the annual conven-. ion held in Salt Lake Friday and Saturday. Professor Merrill defeated C. Ray Evans, principal of the North Summit Sum-mit high school, this year's vice president of the association, for the nosition. He succeeds Arch M. Thurman of Salt Lake, formerly of Provo. Philo T. Earns worth, supervisor in the Granite school district, was elected first vice president. He is well known in Provo being a former for-mer student of the "Y." Keith Wahlquist, principal of the Weber county high school, and Mis. Florence Newcomb of the Ogden high school were named members of the board of trustees. |
