Show C. E. Sessions Are Concluded The thirty-sixth annual convention conven-tion of the Utah Christian Endea-voror Endea-voror Union was brought to a close Sunday afternoon at the Prcsby-torian Prcsby-torian Community church in Springville, where thn largest attendance at-tendance of the sessions listened to the Rev. Norrls Pillsbury of Salt Lako City give the closing address on "Accepting the Challenge," The jrneral theme of the three days' meetings, A Crusldc With Christ," furnished the background of thought. Dr. Jt-sse H. Baird of Salt Lake City bringing u message Friday Fri-day ewning with a stirring appeal on "The Challenge," and Rev. L. H. Sanborn of Salt Lake City on Saturday speaking on the subject, "Considering the Challenge." These addresses, together with the messages mes-sages of Paul C. Brown of Los Angeles, An-geles, the Pacific coast secretary of the international society of Christian Chris-tian Endeavor, were the high lights of the convention. All the sessions of the convention were of a high inspirational character charac-ter and unusual interest was sustained sus-tained throughout, as attested by the remarkable attendance to the very close. There were 135 registered regis-tered delegates, beside a large representation rep-resentation of visitors and friends. In addition to the six societies in Salt Lake City to be represented, there were delegates from Ferron, Mt. Pleasant, Payson, Springville. Provo, American Fork, Ogden, and I)gan. Provo Wilis Cup The Provo Intermediate Society won the silver loving cup for general gen-eral efficiency, Mrs. W. H. Olsen being the superintendent of this society. Horace Bachelder of Provo had charge of the Bible sharp-shooting sharp-shooting contest for Intermediates, and which was won by Francis Bachelder of Provo. Rev. Harold Wilson of Springville directed the Bible contest for seniors, Mrs. C. E. Richmond of Salt Lake being declared de-clared the winner. Twentfflve state officers and superintendents were elected for the ensuing year, including W. Howard Olsen of Provo, president; Miss Nellie Fowler of Salt Lake City, vice president; Miss Winnie Esterack of Salt Lake City, secre-tary; secre-tary; Mrs. Beulah Jackson of Salt Lake City, treasurer; Rev. E. E. Bachelder of Provo, pastor-counselor. |
