A six gallon keg of whiskey together with a few bottles taken from an automobile which was parked behind be-hind G. S. Wood's store were confiscated confis-cated by the officers. Wing was turned over to the county sheriff and the following day after pleading guilty in Judge Tucker's court to the charge of having liquor in his posession. was fined $100 and sentenced to ninty days in the county jail. The jail sentence was suspended on the condition con-dition that ho never commit the offence of-fence again, otherwise to be enforced. The court room of Judge Wayne Johnson was crowded with spectators specta-tors last Saturday morning when ten persons were brought for trial for breaking certain of the city ordinances. or-dinances. At the first city council meeting this year the mayor stated that it. i would be one of the policies of the new administration to see that the I laws are enforced.. He stated that the ordinances of Springville were passed by men who gave them a great deal of thought and that they were intended for good. If there are any that are not good they must be repealed, he stated, "but people who live under our government govern-ment must respect its laws." Frank Snow and Frank Whitney of Mnploton and Lonney Howe and Vernal Koylance of Springville all minors between the ages of IS and 21 pleaded guilty the charge of having hav-ing tobacco in their possession nnd were fined S5 each with the exception excep-tion of Hoylance who wns fined J?3. K. L.. Harding of the City Drug Co. was fined $.".0.00 for selling to bacco to minors. ; Five other minors under the age . of IS had their hearing before . Judge Willis of the juvenile court. ; at the same time. Four pleaded guilty to larceny charges and one having tobacco iu his possession. |
