Show 'S' DAY AT HIGH SCHOOL Awards to the honor men and a speech by L. John Nuttall were the features of the program Wednesday afternoon at the high school "S" day program. The program was started with a ladies' quartet and the final number was a select ion from the high school male chorus. The program was followed by the interclass track and field meet on the campus. The seniors were high point winners with a total of (HI. The alumni came in for second with 10 points and the freshmen for third with six points. There were no records broken. The best showing was made in the 100-yard dash, the 220-yard dash and the linlf-miie relay, with the time 10 2-5, 24 flat, and 1 minute 40 seconds, respectively. The awards to the honor men were made as follows: To the football men a sweater was presented to each by Miss Clara Clyde wiiieh included the following: Paul Thorn, Ted Ilayniond, Robert Crandall. Byron Burt, Frank Cran-mer, Cran-mer, Richard Thorn, Lewis Clark, (Jean AUeman, Wallace Noakes, Walt Wheler and Hert Wheeler. To the basketball men, sweaters were presented by Miss Nora Starr to the following: Glen Graham, Ruel Aslicraft, Ted Ilayniond, Ralph Noakes, Myron Childs and Russell Jensen, and to the men (bat hnd been on the team three years Miss Portia Davis presented a medal to Byron Burt, Paul Thorn, Frank Crnnmer and Lewis Clark. To those who participated in dramatics. Miss Mary Bird presented pre-sented awards to the following: Howard McKenzie, Richard Thorn, Clifford Kindred. Ruth Mnsig, Clara Clyde, Virginia Whittakcr, Florence Claw-son, Irene Metcalf and Ruth Mnsig. Lowery Anderson presented the awnrds to the debating team which included Gordon Crandall. Louise Coffninn, Portia Davis aud Carrol Harrison. Awards were presented to winners win-ners in oratory by Frances Wanna-cott, Wanna-cott, as follows: Carrol Harrison, Louise Coffnian and Charlotte H.iorlh. Principal R. L. Done presented awards or certificates of excellent scholarship to Thorn Chase, (Jean AUeman. lieliaa Xielson, Nora Starr. Portia Davis, Jane AUeman and Bessie Donaldson. |
