Show ' In The Social Realm I Mrs. Manilla Brown Reporter, Phone 146 A delightful surprise party was given Monday evening by Mrs. Andrew An-drew Peterson and a number of girl friends in compliment to Venita Peterson, whose eleventh birthday occurred that day. The entertaining entertain-ing rooms were prettily decorated in flowers of pink and white:, and a large birthday cake in the same colors, holding eleven candles, centered cen-tered the long dining table. The time was pleasantly spent with games and music, after which delicious de-licious refreshments were served to the Misses Virginia Clark, Clara Marnier, Louise Devonian, Mary Johnson, Edna Brimhall, Marion Miner, Harriet Miner, Louise Russell, Rus-sell, Nelda Johnson, Margery Straw, Jane Bagley, C&on Faux, Afton Brlnghurst, Ella and Evelyn Met-calf Met-calf and Millie Henderson. Principal and Mrs. E. E. Knudsen and two boys spent Saturday in Salt Lake. Mr. Knudsen attended to business relative to school work. Mrs. Wayne Johnson is at her home convalescing from a minor operation which she underwent recently. re-cently. The many friends of the young couple will be interested to know of the marriage of Naomi AUau, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Allan, to Morris Reynolds, sou of. Mr. and Mrs. Lawn Reynolds of this city. The marriage took place Thursday, September 8, in Provo. Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Kennedy, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. A. V. Coombs and Mrs. It. B. Weight motored to Timpanogos cave Friday. They had lunch at the park and returned by way, of Provo canyon, enjoying the scenes of the loop during the trip. Mrs. Lloyd Bird of Bingham is spending this week with her mother moth-er Mrs. W. G. Parker. Mrs. Ann Mendenhall and daughter daugh-ter Florence have returned to their home in"Salt Lake, after spending a short time with Mrs. Mendenhall's daughter, Mrs. Edward Clyde, in this city. Mildred Anderson, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. George A. Anderson of this city, loft Wednesday for Holland Hal'li school in Salt Lake, where she will attend during the winter. Last year Miss Anderson attended St. Mary's of the Wasatch. Mr. and Mrs. Orson Hutchinson announce the marriage of their daughter Madge to Nephi Lyeshen of Salt Lake City. The marriage took place Friday, September 9, at Provo. Mr. ami Mvs. Lyeshen will make their home in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Thorn, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. A. Y. Wheeler and Mrs. Walter Wheeler, motored to Paid, Idaho, this week. Mr. and Mrs. Thorn returned yesterday, while Mrs. Wheeler will remain for a shore visit with her daughter. The Trail Builders' class, under the supervision of Mrs. Joseph Allan Al-lan and Mrs. W II. Brown, hiked to the "flat" Saturday evening where games, songs, stories and a "weiner roast" were enjoyed. Tbe party included: Lee Gale, Car! F'jygnre, Leland Allan. Calvin Allan, George Coombs. Jim Miller, Glen Gale and Jack Cherrington. The friends of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Sumsinn will be interested to bear of the arrival of a baby boy, born Sunday at the L. D. S. hospital hos-pital in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. John S. Boyer, Jr., have had as their guests during the past week their children ami fa mil -i'. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jarvis of gden. and Mr. and Mrs. Boyd BuclijMian of Richfield. During their visit the children were taken on several picnics. A nicely arranged dinner was served Sunday by Mrs. C. L. Daley in compliment to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ro!ortson f Provo and Mr, ana Mrs. Luke Hickman of Silver City. Mr. and Mrs. Hickman are guests at the Daley home during this week. A miscellaneous shower was giv-1 en Wednesday evening by Wilda 1 Weight and Helen Gottfredson at the home of the latter in compli ment to Madge Hutchinson, a recent bride. The entertaining rooms were pretty with a profusion of autumn I flowers. Games and music weie ! featured during the evening, during which dainty refreshments were served. The honor guest received many pretty and useful gifts from the many friends and relatives assembled. as-sembled. Mrs. George A. Anderson, accompanied accom-panied by her two daughters, Mildred Mil-dred and Hazel, spent Sunday with Mrs. Anderson's sister Mrs. Edward Waruurton in Pleasant Grove. Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Kennedy and son Donloe and Mrs. Arch V. Coombs, motored to Sa't LaKe Sunday, Sun-day, attending a theatre in the evening. eve-ning. A reception supier was given Friday evening by Mr, and Mrs. Orson Or-son Hutchinson at their home in this city in compliment to their daughter Madge, a recent bride. Autumn flowers were used to decorate dec-orate the entertaining rooms and dining table. Covers were laid for a large number of relatives of both bride and groom, and they received many pretty gifts from those present. pres-ent. The Junior temple excursion of the stake was held Saturday with a number of young folks going to Salt Lake from this citv, among whom were: Hannah Reynolds, Ethel Taylor, Meryl Blackett, Mahle Averett, Gwen Zabriskie, Thomas Reynolds, Hartey Jenkins, Council Blackett, Arthur Payne and Morris Reynolds. A charming social affair of the week end was given Saturday evr nlng by Miss Melba Condie at her home, when she entertained a number num-ber of out-of-town friends at a bridge-luncheon. The entertaiuinir rooms were prettily decorated with vases of rose buds in pink and white. A delicious luncheon was served early in the eveninu, after which the following enjoyed miction bridge : Carrol Dunn. Helen Ca r-ro, r-ro, Florence Adams, Phylls Adams, Madge Peterson, Amy Jackson, Ela ine Christ ensen, Thelma Jones, Dale Davis, Mildred Davis and Lois Chris tensen, all of Provo. Miss Jones was awarded high score prize during the game. Miss Catherine R. Dongall and her mother Mrs. H. Dougall will attend the show "Gay Paree'1 in Salt Lake Saturday. They will also visit friends. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Harmor and two children, Naomi and Arvil. spent t he week end in Salt Lak,J with relatives and friends. Leading among the social events was the guest day social given Friday Fri-day afternoon at the home of Mrs. Lewis Whitney by the members of the Mother's Study club in conipli-! conipli-! ment to members of the Alpha Beta I club and tbe Home Culture club. I Mrs. II. C. II irks of Salt Lake City furnished musical numbers and Mrs. Marie Clark Miller gave a dramnlic reading.
