Show CATTLEHERDS HAVE ANTHRAX Local Veterinarians Vaccinate 500 Cows in Provo District Dis-trict Tuesday. Anthrax bus broken out auiong some of tbe dairy herds around I'rovo, according to veterinarians who have invistigated several cases during tbe past few days. Ten cows have already died in Lake View of the disease and one cow died in Provo Monday. To prevent pre-vent the further spreading of the disease among the herds, 500 cows were vacillated Tuesday by V.. A. J. Webb, state veterinarian, investigat- 1 ed several herds in the district Mon- j day with local officials. According to the veterinarians the onlv preventative for the disease is vaccination. It is understood, that the state will quarantine the j infected district until dairy herds . have been vaccinated. I ; "Extreme care should be taken i by those who may skin cattle which have died from anthrax," said Dr. Vance in commenting on the outbreak out-break here. "The disease is very dangerous and may be transmitted to human beings if they come in contact con-tact with the diseased animals. Cases are known where men have become inflicted with the disease on account of carlcssness In handling hand-ling the carcasses of the dead animals. |
