Show SMOOT URGES RECLAMATION COOPERATION Harmonious Action by All Interests In-terests Necessary Says Senator Reed Smoot. Harmonious action on the part of all interests favoring the Salt Lake basin reclamation project is necessary neces-sary in order to get the $1,500,000 appropriation for the beginning of the project, according to Senator Iteed Smoot at a meeting in the office of the Provo Chamber of Commerce in the, Utah lake reclamation recla-mation project. Senator Smoot explained that he had made arrangements with Dr. Ellwood Mead of the reclamation service for the appropriation and that it should be passed with other appropriation bills the first days of the next congress. Warning was given by Senator Smoot that no ill feelings or agitations agita-tions should be permitted as to where the project should begin as that might interfere with the appropriation appro-priation bill passing congress. He declared that after the appropriation appropria-tion had been made there would be ample time to decide at which particular par-ticular place the reclamation work should begin. James B. Tucker, legal advisor of the property owners along the lake shore, outlined the hopes and desires de-sires of the Utah county people relative to the project Among those present at the meeting meet-ing were Senator Heed Smoot, State Senator LeRoy Dixon, President Arthur N. Taylor of the Provo Chamber of Commerce, J. William Knight, W. O. Creer, AV. Lester Mangum, James B. Tucker, Col. C. E. Loose, J. W. Fnrrer and E. S. Hinckley of Provo; Mayor George R. Maycock, M. O. Packard, H. T. Reynolds, John Alleman and Nephi Straw of Springville ; Commissioners Commission-ers James T. Gardner of American Fork and Fred Matley of Spanish Fork. |
