Mrs. Stephen Deal entertained at bridge Saturday in honor of her sister, Miss Hainona Thomas of Salt Lake City, who has just returned re-turned from France. Miss Thomas was one of the group of University Utah students who has been studying study-ing foreign languages in Europe the past summer. Mr. nnd Mrs. Ben Argyle and daughter, Veil nnd Chloe, of Spnn-1 Spnn-1 ish Fork, spent the week-end in Spriugville, the guests of Mrs. jx. J. Deal. Mrs. D. M. Crandall and John S. Buyer, Sr., attended the golden wedding wed-ding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Uri Stewart of Spanish Fori;, Sunday. Sun-day. Mr. Buyer married the honored couple just fifty years ago. Floyd Harmer and Ralph Packard, Pack-ard, who have spent the past few months in southern Utah doing construction con-struction work, have returned to their homes. Mrs. J. W. Rhodes and son Bruce of Susanville, Calif., have been visiting with Spriugville relatives rela-tives and friends. Lafaol Roylnnce of Portland, Ore., after an absence of 15 years is back in Spriugville visiting with old acquaintances and relatives. Miss Maria Johnson returned home from New York City last Thursday, where she has been a student stu-dent at the Columbia university for the past year. After visiting for a short time in Spriugville, Miss Johnson will go to San Francisco. A. S. Clark is home from Hiawatha Hia-watha visiting with his family. Hugh Cummings of the Michigan Furniture company of Salt Lnke City wns the guest of Mr. nnd Mrs. E. Rich Inst Snturdny. Mr. Cummings Cum-mings and Mr. and Mrs. Rich motored to Kanias Sunday and were the dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Lemon. II. Lee Boyer was in Springville for a few days this week. He has been at Helper for a few weeks this summer. He returned to Helper Tuesday. The first meeting of the Springville Spring-ville chapter of the Service Star Legion will meet at the home of Mrs. Nettie K. Groesbeck Thursday, September 18, at 2 :30 p. m. . Mr. and Mrs. John C. Painter of Nephi visited Sunday at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Frank San-ford. San-ford. Ree Wicker and Armont Ogden from Delta visited with Mr. and Mrs. ArviU a few days this week. Primary officers of the Second ward surprised Mrs. June M. Pierce, at the home of Mrs. L. J. Whituey, Thursday of last week. A most enjoyable en-joyable evening was spent. Mrs. Harold Williams of Howe, Idaho, is making an extended visit at the home of her mother Mrs. Zina Crandall. Miss Alzada Wilmott entertained the Gleaner girls of the Second waid at her home Tuesday evening. The marriage of Miss Emma Brailsford, daughter of James Brailsford to Itichard Beesley, of Provo took place in Provo Wednesday. Wednes-day. The young couple will make their home in Provo. Mrs. Hazel Batty of Wallsburg is visiting at the home of her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Curtis. Miss1 Florensce Curtis is home from Salt Lake and is visiting with relatives and friends. H.
