Show Springville Society The Second ward "M" men were entertained at a chicken supper last Wednesday evening, November' 11, at the home of Cortland Star. After supper games and music were enjoyed en-joyed by twenty members. Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Gledhill entertained en-tertained the following at a radio dance and card party Saturday evening. eve-ning. Mr. and Mrs. V. S. Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. George Russell, Mr. Mrs. S. C. Whittaker, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Weight, after which luncheon was served. C. E. Henderson has returned from Tennessee where he has been visiting with friends and relatives for the past six weeks. The Saturday Aftornon Card club met at. the home of Mrs. J. F. Men-denhall Men-denhall Saturday afternoon. Decorations Dec-orations were carried out with yellow yel-low chrysanthemums. Hand painted paint-ed place cards were used at the table. The guests were favored by solos from Mrs. Hannah Packard and Miss Helen Palfroyman. During the evening games were played. A dainty lap luncheon was served to thirty-five. The Wednesday Evening club met this week at the home of Mrs. V. S. Wilson Wednesday. The color scheme was in red, white and blue. Four tables Vtf bridge were played. Mrs. Stephen Deal winning high score, Mrs. Wallace Mace, general prize and Mrs. Harold Christensen the cut prize. Eleven club members mem-bers w7ere present, the invited guests were Mrs. Glen Niel, Mrs. (Wallace Mace, Mrs. S. C. Whittaker. Mrs. George Russell, Mrs. David Welch and Mrs. II. E. Eurqhart. Ices and candy were served. i At a meeting of the Aaron John-' John-' son camp of the Daughters of the Pioneers held at the home of Mrs. Jennie Starr Inst Thursday the camp was divided into two organizations organi-zations with the camp No. 1 embracing embrac-ing the territory of the Springville First nnd Second ward and camp No. 2 embracing the Third nnd Fourth wards. Mrs. Grace Cheever and Mrs. Bernetta Beck of Provo were present pres-ent and aided in the organization work. W, Clyde was in from the construction works in Uintah county last week.' Mrs. D. O. Ashcraft attended the funeral of Mrs. William Pace that was held in Thistle Wednesday. Mrs. Wallace Mace, and Mrs. O. ' L. Barron were Salt Lake visitors Thursday. The Indian festival presented at the Opera House by the Primary organizations or-ganizations of the Kolob stake Saturday, Sat-urday, November 14, was enjoyed by a large audience. The children in costume well represented thp parts they Tvcre to take. The festival fes-tival included the Indian camp being be-ing in need of food; the call of the Great Spirit; the planting and growing of the corn, and the harvest and ended with a dance. Following Follow-ing the festival there was a pageant showing Joseph Smith iccciving the plates and the mission to the Lamanites, ( the subject being taken up in tile primary this year.) The preliminary program consisted of selections by the scout band: dance by Ruth Baxter; piano solo, Alberta Mendenhall: little artist dance, Sarah Marie Binks: vocal duet, Lucy Wainwright and Evelyn Miner. The officers appreciate tile help and support that parents have given and wish to thank them for helping to make it a success. |
