New Sodded Field The "Red Devils" are reveling in the use of a brand new sodded athletic ath-letic field, the gift of the Nebo board of education to the school. The improvement started last spring deprived the city of a baseball base-ball diamond and precluded the entry of a team in the Central-Utah league during the summer but from a football standpoint the sacrifice was well worth the cost. Among the early arrivals this week were five letter men, Grant Thome, quarter back; Farrel Gud-mundsen, Gud-mundsen, half; Vadal Childs, full back; Bill Paxman, half; and Leonard Leon-ard Harward, center. Captain Mel Haymond and Roy Blanchard, the other two veterans are expected into camp Monday afternoon. The other men who are fighting for the vacant posts on the eleven are Arthur Hughes, Rex Packard,' Clarence Spafford, Jesse Everett, Ted Anthon, Maurice Manwaring, ' Howard Law, Paul Haymond, and i Acel Strong. Veterans Return With Harward and the two veteran vet-eran tackles Haymond and Blanchard Blan-chard back for another season, the center of the line should be well taken care of. Four veteran back-field back-field men will relieve any further worry by the coach in this regard. ; Leddingham's problem will be in finding some suitable wingmen and two dependable guards to round out the eleven. Preparations will likely be made to secure a pre-season practice tilt with the Jordan "Beetdiggers" on the new field. With the Provo "Bulldogs" "Bull-dogs" out of the local region play, the "Red Devils" have an excellent chance to cop the honors in the division. di-vision. Springville, Payson, Eureka, Spanish Fork, American Fork, and Lehi will make up the region three teams according to the distribution made by the state athletic moguls. |
