Show In The Social Realm Mrs. Manilla Brown Reporter, Flume 14G-W. Airs, wnrord Clyde, Mrs. HJrma Gudmundson and Mrs. Vern Cran-dall Cran-dall chaperoned a large crowd of young folks to Kelley's Grove, Hobble Hob-ble Creek canyon last Friday. An j enjoyable day was spent with games and picnic lunch. Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Dallin accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. George Dallin spent one day of the past week with relatives rela-tives in Salt Lake. The Springville Third ward held their Sea-gull graduation exercises Sunday evening with a large number num-ber of girls from the class participating. partici-pating. An excellent program was also given in connection with the regular exprcisos. Miss Anna Crandall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Crandall, Jr., is convalescing frpm a recent operation oper-ation which she underwent at the home of Mrs. M. F. Miner. Rosco Creer of Spanish Fork and Bruce Mcquarie of Salt Lake were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leo. G. Robertson, one day of the past week. Both young men have recently re-cently returned from missions in lAustralia where they were acquaint ac-quaint with relatives of Mrs. Robertson Rob-ertson who reside there. The members of the Kolob stake Primary board met Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Wheeler. Wheel-er. A discussion of Primary work for the coming year was held. Ten members were present. Mrs. E. A. Bryan has returned to her home in Springville after spending an enjoyable two months in Hershey, Nebraska, with her A delightful social evening was, spent Wednesday ' when the mem-j bers of the Kolob stake Sunday ! school board and their partners en-j tertained at a farewell party, in compliment to Lowery Anderson, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Alleman. A program of games and music was enjoyed; also a delicious luncheon was served. , Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Burton Tew, Mr. and Mrs. Lacelle Sumsion, Mr. and Mrs. George Straw, Miss Lola Wliite, Mrs. Louisa White, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Whiting, Miss Olzada Wil-mot. Wil-mot. Mrs. Gus Peterson, in company with her son Donald, and Eugene Johnson of Salt Lake, motored to Springville Sunday and were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Max Kless. The party enjoyed lunch in Hobble Creek canyon. Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Salisbury and j children, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Salisbury and son, motored mo-tored to Heber canyon Sunday, where a delicious picnic lunch was enjoyed. A social note of interest to her many friends in Springville was the marriage of Miss Margaret Watson, daughter of Mrs. Preal Packard,: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller were guests at a dinner party given in Provo Sunday for the district managers mana-gers of the Maytag Washing Machine Ma-chine company. In compliment to her niece and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith, who were visiting here from Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. W. L. Grooms I entertained at an informal family I dinner at her home Monday. The mombers of the Alpha Beta-club Beta-club will hold the first meeting of the season Friday, September 14, at the home of Mrs. G. G. Neill. A program is being arranged for the i occasion and all members are asked to be present. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Child, Jr., en-, en-, tertained at their home Wednesday in compliment to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jo-seph King, who were visiting here from Cedar View. In compliment to her sister, Mrs. W. R. Finch and little daughter Beth, who are visiting here from Los Angeles, Mrs. Charles Boyer entertained at a prettily arranged informal dinner at her home Sunday. Sun-day. Asters in a crystal basket and tall tapers to match in crystal holders formed attractive table decbrations. Covers were laid for the guests of honor and Mrs. J. N. Deal, Miss Orpha and Coe Deal Miss Leon Crooks and the host and hostess. daughter, Mrs. Arch V. Coombs and family. Miss Cleo Pierce left Wednesday for Ogden after spending the summer sum-mer vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Pierce. Miss Pierce is a teacher in the Ogden city schools. Prominent among the social events of the past week was the "watermelon bust" swimming party and dance enjoyed by the Springville Spring-ville city fireman and their partners, part-ners, and members of , the city council and their partners Thursday Thurs-day evening at Glengarry. Those included in the party were: Dr. and Mrs. George Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Will Whitehead, Joe Teasdale and mother, Frank Cellventra, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Haymond, Bert Wheel-er,Mr. Wheel-er,Mr. and Mrs. Guy Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Virgel Bird, Ernest Boyer, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Child, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Claudin, Mr. and Mrs. Solon Wood. Mr. and Mrs. Dell Brimhall, Mr. and Mrs. V. G. Leichty, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Frand-sen. Frand-sen. Anderson of Salt Lake, which took place in the Covenant house Saturday Satur-day evening at 7:30 o'clock in the presence of the immediate families. The Rev. J. H. Baird officiated. During the evening the Evans' sisters sis-ters entertained with several musical musi-cal selections, as did also Mrs. Sidney Sid-ney Badcon and Mrs. Lelia B. Packard. Mrs. Wallace Mace was matron of honor. The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, A. O. Packard of Springville. During the reception three hundred guests called. Those who attended from Springville were Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Packard and daughter Virginia, Mr. and Mrs. M. O. Packard and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boyer; Miss Ida Packard. Tbe young couple left immediately after the reception for an extended motor trip to tho northwest. A delightful evening was spent j Friday when Miss Captola Cher-rington Cher-rington entertained a number of friends at a "slumber party" at her home. The early evening was spent with music and games, also refresh- ments were served by the hostess.! Those included in the party were Misses Ruth Johnson, Mildred Young. Beatrice Wheeler and Mer-j lyn Hall. The members of the Home C'ul-1 tu re club of Springville hold their' first meeting Friday and were en-tertnincd en-tertnincd at the home of Mrs. Hugh i Baxter. A splendid program was given, in which Ralph Johnson' played a saxophone solo; Miss Ileen Harrison played a violin solo, accompanied ac-companied nt the piano by Miss La Vera Hardy. A short talk was given by the president. Mrs. W. L. Grooms. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostess to fourteen members and three visitors present. Tho ladies of the Service St:ir Legion will meet at the home of Mrs. Rose B. Boyer. Thursday, September Sep-tember '20, at 2:30 o'clock. All members mem-bers are requested to be present. This is the first meeting of the season. A program and refreshments refresh-ments will be enjoyable features of the afternoon. Miss Mary Wainwright, daughter daugh-ter of Bishop and Mrs. William Wainwright of this city arrived at her home Monday from a two-year mission in California and Arizona. Miss Wainwright was the speaker Sunday evening in the Second ward. A delightful evening was spent Wednesday when the ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary of Springville were entertained at the home of Mrs. Leo G. Robertson, A splendid program of musical numbers num-bers was given as follows: vocal duet, Miss Inez Wheeler and Helen Palfreyman, vocal solo, Helen Palfreyman; Pal-freyman; musical reading, Mrs. Leo G. Robertson. A short business meeting was held and in conclusion delicious refreshments were served by the hostess to the following members present: Mrs. Lela Nelson, Mrs. Vilate K. Reynolds, Mrs. Leona West, Mrs. Paul Frandsen, ( Mrs. Esther Johnson, Mrs. Elva Averett, Mrs. Bell Sumsion, Mrs. , La Preal Friel, Mrs. Golda Crandall. Cran-dall. Mrs. Mary Witney, Mrs. Zora Hill. Tho next meeting will be held the first Wednesday in October Octo-ber at the home of Mrs. Elva Aver- ett. I Mrs. Mail Snelson has recovered sufficiently from her recent ill- ness to return to her home. She has been staying at the home of Mrs. Ella Miner in this city. j Mrs. Ernest Harmer and children ,have returned to their home after a short visit in Magna with Mrs. : Harmer's sister, Mrs. Rue Packard. j The Religion class presidents and ; leaders of the various wards met I Wednesday evening in the Seminary Semin-ary building to discuss with stake officers, plans and program for jthe beginning of religion class ' work. i I Paul .Thorn who has spent the j summer at King Hill.
