Show Retired, But Still Going Attorney Clarence Darrow announces that, while he retires re-tires from battles in the court room, he will still be engaged actively in the writing of two books. One of Mr. Darrow's books will roast the prohibition law and the other will be an' autobiography. A goodly number of men snuff the candle before retiring retir-ing from their public career, by pecking at the weaknesses of something like Gibraltar and issuing an autobiography. 1 By lambasting the prohibition law, Mr. Darrow will feel that he is still young, vigorous and influential. His autobiography will be exceptional, if it does not give his friends something to snicker at and his enemies something to sneer at. Usually, an autobiography snuffs the candle most thoroughly, producing pro-ducing a rich, dense ,;mpenetrable and perfect darkness. However, Mr. Darrow is a man of unusual and peculiar talents. tal-ents. Ilis whoop for more moisture and his story of how he did things may prove to be very interesting; certainly to a number of parties who wixild now be in jail or in cemeteries, were it not for the great criminal lawyer's talents. |
