Show LINCOLN HIGH DEBATERS WIN TWO CONTESTS Pleasant Grove, Provo, and Payson Also Win One Debate Each The Lincoln high school debating teams won the triangular debates of the Young university high schol, the Pleasant Grove high school and the Lincoln high school held at the three places Wednesday noon. The question ques-tion was the child labor amendment. The Lincoln affirmative won from the university high school at Lincoln Lin-coln with a two to one decision. The affirmative debaters were Hazel Nuttnll and Mne Scott. The! negative nega-tive debaters were Abia Judd and Milo C. Hendricks. The judges were George W. Larson of Pleasant Grove, Raymond Wentz of Provo Bench and George Fox of Lehl. The Lincoln negative won a unanimous decision at Pleasant Grove from the negative of that school. The Lincoln debaters were Clarence Ashton and Dean Terry, while Pleasant Grove was represented repre-sented hy Raymond Peterson and Marvel Atwood. The judges were Lowry Nelson, C. Y. Cannon and A. C. Lambert, all of Provo. The Pleasant Grove negative team, Jean Paulson and Jewel Linebnugh, were given a unanimous decision at the university high school assembly over the "Y" negative nega-tive team consisting of Mary Wain-wright Wain-wright and Gordon Crandnll of Springville. The judges were George W. Worthen, Martin SL Larson and N. Gunnar Hasmuson, all of Provo. Orvil Hafen, debating manager of the Young university, was the chairman chair-man of the debate. The Provo. high school debating teams won one and lost one debate Tuesday afternoon, on the child labor amendment. The affirmative team, Robert Allen and Ada Anderson Ander-son won by a two to one decision from Allen Rowel and Lois Briggs of Spanish Fork high school. The judges Were Prof. T. O. Romney, Judge J. B. Tucker and Mrs. Ascha E. Paxmnn. The negative team, Ernest Whitehead White-head and Max Mangum, lost to the Payson affirmative. |
