' r - 14 1 AIRPLANE TERES have found a new use as expansion joints in Springville City's steel pipe line above Kelly's Grove. Being installed this week by the light department, the Innovation will save the city over $3000. Expansion and contraction of the steel pipes resulted in leakage and loss of water making a huge rubber gasket necessary. New expansion ex-pansion joints would have cost city about $4000 in addition to labor for installation. Sfffliis f' srt exhibit' phmeS. for -fltarcfe 29 The thirty-ninth annual national April Art Ex-" hibit at Springville High School will open Friday, March 29, it was announced today. Two programs are planned for the opening, one for students and another for the general public. Details of the programs will be announced an-nounced next week. In the meantime, paintings are being uncrated and hung and other details are being worked out for the big annual art month through April. The Art Board of which Principal Omar Hansen is president pres-ident plans a' number o f changes in the organization in the future, but this year's' exhibit ex-hibit will be carried on as ; usual. It has been recommended recommend-ed that five committees, invi- ' tation, program, finance, reception re-ception and jury be appointed I to function in the future. Other plans are also being discussed. Receptionists To assist in directing visit- ors through the art galleries this year and to answer questions, ques-tions, it was suggested that a group 'of receptionists serve during the April Art month. They will work out a schedule sched-ule for receptionists to be at the gallery and clubs and other womens' organization members will take part. A meeting for the receptionists reception-ists to acquaint them with their duties is announced for Monday Mon-day evening, March 25, at 8 p.m., at the Art Building, under direction of Stanley Burning-ham. |
